  1. Sir you did not do your home work, on the Queen Elizabeth are Japanese Hosts who speak English all you have to do is to ask them to write out where you want to go.Just completed 19 nights and when we arrived in Nagasaki the ship lets you off beside the train and bus and as we had been before we knew how to navigate. First time PRE COVID had everything written in Japanese where we wanted to go to, as for AKITA one of the best days ever bus drops you off in the center and thanks to our Japanese hosts everything written in Japanese for one of the best times, beautiful park for CB, Japanese tea ceremony, Akita dogs and the food stalls on a beautiful sunny day. As far as a balcony goes I will not start an argument with you and by the way you did not mention how great a rate you got with your currency.
  2. Getting off Queen Anne for a 2.15 PM afternoon flight from Heathrow Terminal 4, any advice appreciated.
  3. Pursers Desk is the way to go as there is a chain of command pursers desk first for anything and if you you are not satisfied they will listen and direct you to the next step. This is why we love Cunard they listen and act. The no upgrade signs are there for the boarding of a new cruise, could you imagine how many people would be bothering the Pursers Desk on one of their busiest times, but do believe they forget to remove the signs once the ship is underway.
  4. Deck Chair,it sound it is time for you to go on Silverseas or maybe even Royal Caribbean where I believe they have a zip line and climbing wall. Give me your so called boring Cunard Line anytime!
  5. Sorry I cannot agree, wait staff were great just off QE.
  6. " Fools " to you but maybe a special occasion for the folks involved, we all travel for different reasons!
  7. Last time in Halifax we were disappointed with the museum but that was seven years ago, bus was very easy leaves you off at the cemetery and across the street coming back. The museum and the cemetery was what we wanted to see and the bus gave us a feel for the city, times like this we like to take our time and savor the history.
  8. Most important for us is the Library, last time on HAL Library also was great!
  9. Been Inside, Ocean View, Balcony and Princess Grills. Never had a problem and of course treat the cabin people with respect including nights off when it comes to turn down.
  10. If you have traveled on Princess and HAL like my wife and I you should like Cunard. We now have found the line we like especially if you have a problem, not that we have had many but they are unto it pronto. The ambiance, theaters, wrap around promenade deck with deck chairs in good weather, self service laundry, officers who are willing to give you their time, guest speakers, crew, shows and very interesting fellow passengers, I could go on and on, and don't forget photos of the movie stars on the Queen Mary that take us back to the classic movies of yesterday. Enjoy!
  11. Agree less of Kava, say hello to wonderful NZ.
  12. Thank you, that is the way it is pronounced spent too long with the incredible Samoans.
  13. What did you do? send a note to the Hotel Manager or mention it to the Maitre d' if this took place in the dining room. Being proactive is much better than being reactive!
  14. Please stop worrying, and think about a wonderful cruise you and your husband are going to have on Cunard.
  15. Your husband will be perfectly dressed, not all men are in tuxedos on formal night.
  16. Been there by ship also hotel stay. Robert Louis Stephenson the writer stayed for a short time and also is buried, where he he lived is a museum well worth a visit, better still a climb up to his grave but you have to be pretty fit, I believe it took six Samoan men to carry his coffin to the grave site. Aggie Grey's mentioned in " Tales of the South Pacific " Hotel for lunch then a walk over to Parliament House. As we live near the ocean we are not really interested in the beach, enjoy! This is the capital Apia, not American Samoa which is Pango Pango., enjoy!
  17. Yes this is our second time Sydney to Japan, last trip into Yokohama this year into a brand new terminal in Tokyo which has been closed for COVID. Arriving into Tokyo is a great idea especially for folks who are disembarking and flying home within in a few days. Before it was Yokohama to Tokyo and if you were flying out off Haneda or Narita airports on the day it could be challenging. Say hello to Hartford for me.
  18. Certainly you will be able to do this, sorry I cannot advise what cruise line as you are going to Spain. You would maybe have to look at a repositioning with say Holland America, sailed Tampa to Barcelona with HAL, the ship was heading to Europe for the summer season, it was the Ryndam no longer in service, HAL still do repositioning cruises so could be a good idea to try them. Good Luck!
