TamaLee Posted April 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2004 We are considering going on the Brill in October of next year. I love to day dream about what cabin I might have. If you've been on this ship, what was your favorite cabin number? We know we want a balcony, but probably not a suite. Alexis Posted April 12, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2004 Hi, 8596 And 8594 which are the middle of the "Bump". It has a great view of the whole side of the ship from front to back. It also looks down on the water and not the life boat overhang. It is listed as an E2. I would get that again on any cruise we take. It was perfect. Also, nobody can see into your balcony because it juts out from the ship. Glendamcd Posted April 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2004 We are going on Brillance of the Seas in October and have Cabin 7126 with Balcony which is an E3 Cabin (What is the problem with E3 Cabins?
Alexis Posted April 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Hi, I think I can answer that question for you. The E3 cabins on Deck 7 have the lifeboat overhang in front of your balcony. It does not block your view, it only prohibits you from looking down. You can not look straight down to the water, as the overhang juts out. You have to look out and over this overhang to see water. I have never had one of these cabins, so I can not say if it would bother me. The cabins on the "hump" or "bump" do not have this overhang in front of them. Nancyquilts Posted April 13, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 13, 2004 We just came back from 8064 and it was perfect for us. It is an E2. We liked the overhang from deck 9 to make it shadier for enjoying being outside in the hot weather. It was also between the two elevator sections, so it was easy to get around anywhere on the ship. Don't take 8058 or 8060 because the window washing equipment parks in front of them - maybe takes up a few feet off each, but I would find it annoying. Glendamcd Posted April 13, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 13, 2004 We are going on the October 5th Cruise on Brillance. I did check with RCCL and they rate their obstructions and Cabin 7126 had no obstructions. The gentleman on the phone was very kind to even check below to the 4th deck and said we were fine. We have booked several private tours for this cruise. We are using Sylvi in Villefranche, Gennaro with Sorrento Limo in Naples & Amalfi Coast, Daniele with DriverinRome and a private boat tour of the Grand Canal in Venice with Avventure Belissimo/ We would like to do one with Florence and Pisa with Paola but Her prices are 550E for 1-4 and 650 for 5-8. Let me know if you are interested Glenda

cmjaffe Posted April 13, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 13, 2004 OK.. on deck 7.. the bump cabins are E1 and E2.. they're fine.. aft cabins are fine.. ALL E3s have the "obstruction) ledge juts out a few feet... you mainly can look out directly into horizon... I viewed many cabins when we were on early Serenade sailing to get an idea of which cbin to book for Brilliance.. was leaning towards E3 (savings) but realized it wasn't worth the savings.. E1 on deck 7 (forward and aft) also have a larger (deeper I believe) balcony and does NOT have the covers. The ledge just made the balcony seem a bit smaller and also a bit "closed in". JMHO... if I had the choice between a E1 -2 and 3 (seeing the difference in price usually being the max of $50 for each cat. <usually less if you use a disc. agent> I'd avoid E3. Hope I'm clear in my explaination. Carolyn

CAPinBoynton Posted April 13, 2004 #15 Share Posted April 13, 2004 As Alexis stated, #8596 on the bump is da best! We had that cabin on the Brilliance and booked the same cabin on the Jewel. There are plenty of pictures of the Brilliance on our website under the Mediterranean cruise review. Mike compared the balconies and discussed the obstruction. Glendamcd, just my opinion, but I wouldn’t place too much faith in the answers you get by phone. Call again, and you’ll probably get a different answer to the same question. Janet S. Posted April 13, 2004 #17 Share Posted April 13, 2004 I have booked cabin 1550 and cabin 1588 on the Brilliance for next year. Is there any problem with either of these cabins on deck 10. justcruzin85374 Posted April 14, 2004 #19 Share Posted April 14, 2004 We were disappointed in 8114 an E-2 cat. It had the overhang for the life boats. Not being able to see straight down to the water......it did make a difference at times, but for the most part seeing straight out was fine. Location, location location, we now know what to avoid. the_psycho Posted April 14, 2004 #20 Share Posted April 14, 2004 1104, hands down. You just can't beat that aft balcony, especially when there are fantastic views to be seen, and tanning to be done. Now the weird part: we have also booked #1588 for 8/22/04, only on the Serenade but it is a twin of the Brilliance. Looks like we have the same taste in cabins!
