allenee Posted August 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2008 I have a friend, an experienced cruiser, who cruised Alaska earlier this summer on a Princess ship. She was surprised to see on her final bill a $2 charge for each time she used room service. She had tipped the waiter for each delivery. Are you aware of any other cruise lines that are now automatically including a charge for room service?

notentirelynormal Posted August 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2008 Maybe something new. I wasn't charged anything last March and my DD wasn't either and she ordered everyday and sometimes a couple of times each day. Could it be your friend ordered juice or something that was a charge item each time?
CaptData Posted August 20, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2008 Not on RCCL in Jan 08. Did she order pop as there is a charge for this from Room Service. Or juice late in the day??
onceagain Posted August 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2008 We've ordered room service a lot on Princess, never been charged a tip.
98Charlie Posted August 20, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 20, 2008 Here's from the Princess Web Site You can call for personal room service at any time of the day or night. To have continental breakfast delivered to your stateroom, just fill out the breakfast card included in your stateroom portfolio (one is also placed on your pillow) and hang it out at night on your stateroom door. For a full stateroom menu, please see your stateroom portfolio or call the number listed in your telephone directory. Please note: charges may apply to certain beverage items. Although, I can't think of anything that would be $2 exactly. Did she not ask about the charge? If she didn't notice until the last morning and it was $10 or $12 she may have just passed on standing in line. It's one reason that we check in at the purser's desk mid-cruise and the last full day for a print out of our bill. (Or, on Carnival, it's available in room on the TV). sultan_sfo Posted August 20, 2008 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2008 On some ships, Princess now allows ordering Pizza from Room Service at a charge of $3. Tips are optional.
paul929207 Posted August 20, 2008 #8 Share Posted August 20, 2008 We were on the Tahitian Princess last month and there was no charge for room service. Princess does charge $3 for pizza delivery.
