day tour in Sydney

We are going to be in Sydney one day before our cruise leaves. We were going to do a 'cruise tour' but they don't offer any for some reason. We would like a suggestion for a reputable company to see the highlights of the city. We don't mind walking and we don't want to do the bridge climb - in reality though in theory it sounds great. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We are asking for names of tour operators. Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

for lots of ideas of what to do in Sydney.

There are two tourist buses - Sydney Explorer and Bondi

Explorer for independent hop on hop off travel.

Otherwise you can just ride the ferries and explore wherever they take you on beautiful Sydney Harbour, which is what I do everytime I visit.

Hi,

I have no personal experience, but this bus-tour company is big and reputable. They do tours all over Australia, including in and around Sydney: http://www.aatkings.com/au/index.php?brochure_id=2351

And here is a personal website with ideas for travelers, if you decide you want to do your own thing: http://members.ozemail.com.au/%7Emacinnis/syd/quicksyd.htm

Hope this helps! :)

Tupper10, we liked the Explorer Bus, mentioned by MMDown Under. There are two different routes and they cover a lot of ground in a short time. It's a hop-on/hop-off deal, so if you see an area you want to explore a bit, you can stop there for a while and hop on the next Explorer Bus. Now, the drivers do some narration, but it may not be as comprehensive as what you are after.

Captain cook cruises are good. They have lunch and dinner cruises and also coffee cruises which are nice.

For a cheap option just get the Manly ferry from circular quay to Manly (only a few dollars) look around Manly beach then get it back again.

I think we have decided to do the hop off and hop on bus since we don't know how we will feel after flying for two days. The tours all leave in the early morning. I am not sure we will be up and ready to roll by 8:30 AM. Thanks to everyone for all your help. I get loads of info from everyone and this site has really helped me plan our trip.
