Leslieswiger Posted October 28, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2004 It seems as though Mr. Kruse is to succeed Mr. Lanterman at HAL. Is this good or bad?

shipcafe Posted October 28, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2004 I think that given the recent enhancements and the positive images that have come forth so far, it can be a very good thing ! . . . All things go through change and innovation - embracing it with an open mind only puts us in a positive to better move forward as well :) Okay there's my coffee talk for the morning ;)
sail7seas Posted October 28, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2004 He has been with HAL for five years so he is hardly 'new'. Many of the changes we have seen, I would think he has been involved in. Mr. Kruse is President of HAL.

Leslieswiger Posted October 28, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted October 28, 2004 S7S please read my thread once again. I did NOT say Mr. Kruse was NEW at HAL. I said Mr Kruse is to succeed Mr. Lanterman.

sail7seas Posted October 28, 2004 #8 Share Posted October 28, 2004 No....You did not say he is new to HAL. I was pointing out that he has been with HAL for five years. Not everyone would necessarily know that. Some people might actually have never even heard of him.....may well not know he is the company's President. I thought I was offering helpful info for those who might be interested in reading it. To the best of my knowledge, it is accurate information. bookworm0911 Posted October 28, 2004 #9 Share Posted October 28, 2004 It seems as though Mr. Kruse is to succeed Mr. Lanterman at HAL. Thank you, Leslie, for giving this board the information. Sometimes it just isn't worth it to be helpful, as I have found out. Don't worry about it.

the2ofus Posted October 28, 2004 #11 Share Posted October 28, 2004 I don't think it is clear that Mr. Kruse is to succeed Mr. Lanterman. Isn't Mr. Lanterman CEO of HAL while Mr. Kruse is President of HAL? The two positions are not the same, but most likely represent logical advances or rungs on the corporate ladder. gizmo Posted October 28, 2004 #12 Share Posted October 28, 2004 The2ofus, Maybe this will help: Stein Kruse has been named chief executive officer for Holland America Line Inc., a wholly owned unit of Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE: CCL; LSE)CUK. His appointment is effective December 1, 2004. Kruse will report to Micky Arison, chairman & CEO, and Howard Frank, vice chairman & COO, Carnival Corporation & plc. Kruse, who will serve as president and chief executive officer, succeeds A. Kirk Lanterman who led Holland America Line for more than 30 years. Lanterman, a cruise industry icon, will continue to serve as chairman of Holland America Line Inc. in a non-executive role and as a member of the board of directors of Carnival Corporation & plc. mmacdcc Posted October 28, 2004 #20 Share Posted October 28, 2004 Of course he'd be head of a cruise line. He was born to the job. Who better to head a cruise line than Mr.Kruse? Kinda like a podiatrist named Dr. Foote, or a vet named Dr. Katt, or Dr. Fox.
