Pride

We are booked on the Pride next July and I have not been able to find any threads on this ship. As we haven't sailed with Carnival for over 20 years I would like to know a little about the ship and Carnival. Has anyone sailed on the Pride recently and can tell me some things about it. Even the Carnival site doesn't tell you much about the ships.

We were on the Pride last year with a group and had a great time. Not sure what you're looking for about the ship, they're all similar, but the Spirit class seems to be lots of people's favorite layout. There are many threads about it if you do a search. There are pics in my signature.

Do you know something I don't? How do we search? I thought the search was not working. I really miss that feature so I am interested in knowing if there is another method.

Just above the first post is a box to "search this thread" so just type in Pride or Spirit and you'll get a ton of info.

I was on the Spirit which is the same ship basically. I loved it so much that I booked a Pride cruise next. I think the ship has a super great layout and really easy to find your way around. Many ships have dead-ends or elevators that don't go all the way so you have to take one elevator, then get off and find another elevator to take you further. Not this ship. Lots of decks get from bow to stern. FYI - deck 2 is where a lot of the action is. Dining room, casino, sports club, atrium, pursers desk & shore excursion desk, karaoke club, entrance to show lounge. I spent a lot of time on deck 2. Lido deck was near the top with pools, buffet etc. Tell us more specifically what you want to know.

I tried to search the Pride but there wasnt anything that came up.

A couple of questions are:

Are there lots of places to eat or just the dining room and buffet?

Do they have trivia, theme parties, cooking demo's or tours of the galley or backstage?

Do you need a foam egg-crate for the bed?

When there are 3 to the room are there 2 pull downs or is one the couch and if so is it comfortable?

Are there fridge's in the rooms?

Are the hairdryers the ones on the wall or hand held?

Is it hard to find a deck chair?

I could go on but I won't.

The "thing" about the Pride.... is that it has been on the Western coast of the US for quite a while now. It is moving to the East coast in the Spring....

The ship is the same, but the cruise will be different!

The good thing about the Spirit Class ships, is they seem identical except for decor - so some of those questions may be answered by people who have sailed the Miracle, Spirit or Legend too!

BTW>>

We are sailing on the Pride in April.. cannot wait!

I can answer some of these....

There is 24 hour pizza. Room service (excellent sandwiches!) and the buffet is quite large and varied. Besides the grill and the salad bar there are different stations offering a variety of foods...changes daily.

I know they played trivia in the show lounge in the afternoons and before some of the shows.

The bed was EXTREMELY comfortable....it's Carnival's new bedding system.

Our couch made into a bed....we didn't try it though so I can't vouch if it's comfy or not.

There are small fridges. They are stocked with soda, water and some alcohol but you can ask to have it removed. They weren't super cold though. If I had smuggled I think I would have opted to bring a cooler and ask the steward to keep ice in it.

The hair dryer is in a drawer at the vanity area. It was a decent dryer. I won't be bringing my own next time.

The deck chairs right around the pool were hard to come by....but further away from the pool there were plenty.

Anything else? :)

I tried to search the Pride but there wasnt anything that came up.

A couple of questions are:

Are there lots of places to eat or just the dining room and buffet? Dining room, buffet, supper club extra $, burger grill by the pool. At least that is how it was on the Spirit.

Do they have trivia, theme parties, cooking demo's or tours of the galley or backstage? They did have lots of trivia and different activities. I don't recall seeing a galley tour option or backstage tour. I think there was a cooking thing but not sure.

Do you need a foam egg-crate for the bed? I didn't need one. The bed was awesome and I'm kind a picky when it comes to beds. I have a temperpedic at home and spoiled by it and their beds are really wonderful.

When there are 3 to the room are there 2 pull downs or is one the couch and if so is it comfortable? Usually the sofa converts to a sofa sleeper unless they put you in a quad in which you would have an upper too. Depends on the room. I've heard they comfy but I don't know.

Are there fridge's in the rooms? Sort of. They aren't really fridges as they don't refrigerate the contents but it looks like a fridge and you could ask the steward to remove the contents in there (really expensive stuff) so you can put your soda/water in there. But it really won't make it cold. We complained to the pursers desk that our fridge wasn't working and they advised me that they aren't really fridges.

Are the hairdryers the ones on the wall or hand held? They are handheld hair dryers usually kept in the drawer in the vanity. You have to hold the button down to get it to operate so many people suggest bringing a rubber band for it so you don't have to depress the button the whole time. It never bothered me though.

Is it hard to find a deck chair? I had no problems finding a deck chair. Although I asked for a lounger for my balcony and the steward said they aren't allowed. I thought the extended balcony that I had would have plenty of room for it but he said no.

I could go on but I won't.

Here is the "Pride Thread Only" that pkrchkr mentioned in prior post. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=701677

Good luck. You will enjoy your cruise.
