Lucky! I just checked and price is well over $1200 now.

I hope this means that my luck is changing. Also hope my limited info on my first report did not cause you to miss the lower price. In the future, my reports will be more complete. Have a great day.

There are lots of good deals out there - just not as predictable as the studio cabins on the Epic. That said, with some shopping around, you may find a cruise which, even at the full 200% price, is still cheaper than a comparable cruise with a solo cabin discount. (As I've noted before - Epic's studio cabins are a deal, but not as big as it seems, since the base price of those cabins is still usually 150% the price for a double occupancy interior on the same ship. So technically, I see it as still a 50% supplement, for a smaller cabin - but with the studio "perks" -- I'm not sure the perks are worth it, though...)

NCL offers discounts to Harrah's/Caesars Total Rewards cardholders. 5-30% off depending on your tier level. I'm at the highest tier level, so booking any cabin as a solo, I pay 200% X 70% which comes out to 140%, not bad. Takes a LOT of play to reach the highest tier level-- but smaller discounts are available at the other tier levels. Might be worth a look if you're playing in their casinos already.

Harrah's/Caesars casinos also frequently have promotions that either award free NCL cruises in drawings or give them away to frequent players. Usually these are inside cabins and you have to pay taxes and fees. Still a good deal though, and you can upgrade to an outside or a balcony for a reasonable fee. You choose from a predetermined list of cruises, but it's a wide selection.

On Celebrity Millennium April 8-18 (10 nights) Southern Caribbean, Oceanviews 2xxx are heavily discounted right now, cheaper than insides. My solo Oceanview was 1,092 TOTAL (after supplement). Not bad for a 10-nights around the Caribbean. Itinerary is Tortola-St-Maarten-St Lucia-Barbados-Grenada-Aruba-Curacao

I see by the thread that there are some better deals out there than the Epic solo rooms, but I guess the 2nd part of this equation, for me, is I travel during teacher vacation weeks--President's week and Easter. I don't usually cruise in the summer, but will check the rates anyway. Must you call the cruise lines to request a single rate?

I think that leaves from San Juan if I'm not mistaken. Have you looked in what the air fare is going to be?

If you haven't been to San Juan before you might want to fly in a day early or plan on staying a day after the cruise and spend time in Old San Juan. It is a fascinating and historical city with lots to see and do.

Have a great next cruise.

its great we work 187 days instead of 240. It stinks we can only take off during teacher breaks, the highest priced cruise times. It double stinks being a solo teacher....but I still love cruising!

Look at the bight side, you can sail out of NY, NY and area without flying!! :)

Today it was -1 degree according to my car's thermostat. Sure would be cold cruising out of NY. Since it takes 2 days to get to Bahamas/Caribbean, would you be able to sit outide on deck on day 2?

Last Tuesday there was a great deal for the Constellation 3/12-26/11. The single supplement was 150%. I checked to day and even with a residency rate the fare would be another $600.

There are some excellent 150% deals on Celebrity for next Tuesday as well including a 14 night Constellation on 3/26, an 11 night Equinox leaving 3/19 and a 14 night Panama canal cruise on Infinity leaving 3/13 among others.

I just found this repositioning deal. I know, I know, airfare will be a challenge, but, the cruise fares are dirt cheap.

Grandeur of the Seas, TransAtlantic, 14 night, April 24, 2011, Single Inside, From Colon, Panama to Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

Total Price : $675.57 (taxes included)

The other cabin categories seem very cheap too. A Grand Suite is $1699, single, before tax.

EDIT: Spirit Air from Fort Lauderdale to Panama City on April 23, 2011, is currently $114.00 including taxes.

Just wondering -- Are these the same sales that get published on Celebrity's and RCCL's websites every Tuesday, or are these exclusively available to travel agents?
