Star Princess Drydock Pictures

Very nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. How do they get the ship on top of the pier?

It is a floating dry dock. They submerge the dock and move the ship into place. Once it on the dock they refloat that entire dock. We would love to see the refloating take place, but they did it over night. :( It is amazing what you can do with water and air. :)

We just returned from San Francisco to see the Star Princess in drydock @ Pier 70.

For better or for worse, MUTS (Movies Under the Stars) is definitely going in – the frame was already installed.

We have pics in the link attached.

:D Great pictures thanks for sharing..

:p Great pictures, thank you for posting. I especially liked the aft pictures with the rudders and props. We sailed for the first time out of San Francisco in May on the Dawn. Where is pier 70 as compared to pier 35 which is where we sailed from? Would it be closer to the Golden Gate (West?) or the opposite direction? Thanks

Thank you Craig and Jack, what wonderful pictures, and very informative. Thank you for taking the time to give us all a bit of an education and a vicarious look at the ship in dry dock, we were all very interested I think......Leah
