London Heathrow Hotel recommendations?

The Renaissance is a very large 4 star purpose built airport hotel which carries out its purpose in a competent bland kind of way. It does a lot of conference business, as do most of the 4 stars at Heathrow and the food is 'international' - much what you would expect of any such airport hotel anywhere in the world. Has the obligatory 'health/excercise' facilities and a fancy reception/lounge.

Opposite the Renaissance is the Park Inn a similar very large hotel and the Radisson Edwardian, one of the 2, 5 star hotels at Heathrow. Both these are very similar to the Renaissance.

If you want to get away from the Renaissance there is an Italian Restaurant by the side of the Park Inn and a McDonald's in front of the Radisson. There is also a pub that does pub grub along from the Renaissance.

We usually stay at the Sheraton Skyline or the Marriott on Bath Rd., right outside Heathrow. We walk to dinner at The Pheasant Pub (the front, Public House part, never tried the "Restaurant") Good beers and food.

That's it marked letter "A" on this map link.

(The McDonald's, referred to in an earlier post, is on Bath Rd., right by "New Road" on the map)

We have a very short overnight layover in London so should probably stay near the airport.
I think it's too late for you, but it is always worth posting exactly what your itinerary is. "Near the airport" differs according to which terminals you're using.

We always stayed at the Hilton at Terminal 4. A short walk from the actual terminal so no shuttle involved. There is a new Sofitel at Term. 5. For 1,2 or 3 Terminals the Rennaissance would be convenient but you will need to take a shuttle and the shuttles are no longer free! Or you can take the Heathrow Express train from your Terminal to Terminal 5 and stay at the Sofitel!! Heathrow Express is free between terminals.
