Ethel5 Posted October 10, 2008 #27 Share Posted October 10, 2008 I got a response saying that they added me to the list for my next cruise on 10/31.
hightownCO Posted October 10, 2008 #28 Share Posted October 10, 2008 I've frequently heard of Carnival OPC doing something - strawberries or photo - but not Princess. I think it's up cruise line and their supervision of the casino operations on board. I e mailed OPC before all three of my Princess cruises including current and past booking numbers/sail dates. Got their 'we'll add you to our lists'. I'm not one who dabbles a twenty here and there but spend probably more than most. Nothing from them at all. I'll send them a 'cruising again' notice one more time and see what happens. And by the way, the payback on slots is $10.00 per 1000 POINTS not dollars. Points accumulate much faster! It is probably closer to $100 spent. I've forgotten exactly but it may have been 1 point per 2 cents? 5 cents?

I play dollar slots (and some $5) exclusively and it was sure $10 per thou when I played on the Golden a few months ago. Each point is a dollar when you are playing dollar machines. I accumulated some 40,000 points last time and while I may spend more than the average person but NO WHERE near $40,000! LOL. I mostly played 25$ video poker w/max bet. :)
bhopal21 Posted October 10, 2008 #31 Share Posted October 10, 2008 I guess it is possible that it could vary by ship. We will be on The Island a few weeks after your cruise and I will take note. Mike:)
Ethel5 Posted October 10, 2008 #32 Share Posted October 10, 2008 I also believe it's points not dollars. I got the $10 twice on our last cruise and there's no way I spent $2000!!!!
bhopal21 Posted October 10, 2008 #33 Share Posted October 10, 2008 Then it has to vary by the ship or the game then. Mike:)
blindrid Posted October 10, 2008 #34 Share Posted October 10, 2008 They are now charging a 3% fee for all casino chips or cash in the casino. AND it will post to your on board account as a "cash advance" which means your credit card will charge you through the roof. Since I live near Atlantic City, I'll save my roulette play where I don't get nickled and dimed. Your credit card does not get charged as a cash advance, Princess takes a 3% cut then the total bill gets put on the CC as a charge. If you're a roulette player, you better save your nickels and dimes ;) .
Sandytoes Posted October 11, 2008 #35 Share Posted October 11, 2008 Just a word of caution Remember to put back credits on your slot card. I sat down at a machine - without realizing - someone forgot to cash out their credits. Over $50.00  Guess you can say I hit the jackpot!!! :D
mina Posted October 11, 2008 #36 Share Posted October 11, 2008 do the slot machines still take $20 bills, etc. I do NOT want to use my cruise card -- it is too dangerous for me -- I will have ganbled the whole house by the time I get done -- I prefer to take my little $1000 have it broken into $20s and budget my gambling -- is this no longer possible?? hightownCO Posted October 11, 2008 #37 Share Posted October 11, 2008 Certainly will take your $20s....as well as your 1s, 5, 10, 50, 100s!
gerig Posted May 11, 2009 #38 Share Posted May 11, 2009 In order to avoid the 3% surcharge, if I purchase casino credits how do I obtain the cash to play the slots? Will the casino cashier have a record that I have purchased casino credit? What happens if I win and don't use all my casino credits. How do I get my unused casino credits? Will the casino cashier have a record that I have purchased casino credit? What happens if I win and don't use all my casino credits. How do I get my unused casino credits? If you order casino credits before your cruise, vouchers will be left in your stateroom in the denominations you ordered. You take them to the casino cage one at a time or all at once, up to you, they have duplicates of your vouchers there. You must sign for them each time you cash some in. They give you cash in return when presenting the vouchers. If by chance you don't use them all, just take them to the casino cage by the last evening of your cruise, they will cash them in and again give you cash back. That seems easy enough. Thanks for the information
seb530 Posted May 11, 2009 #41 Share Posted May 11, 2009 If i have purchased OBC in advance (just normal OBC) - and i use slots with cruise card I assume my OBC would be debited until it runs out? Can i also take OBC out in cash at the casino (with 3% fee)? When i called to buy OBC, they advise it was "use it or lose it"...just worried about loading up OBC and having some at end of trip and having to lose it! Or you can take it out at the casino cage, with the 3% fee. ;)

Im not sure what the difference between casino credit and OBC is (apart from the fact presumably you can only use casino credit in the casino ;-) )

Im not sure what the difference between casino credit and OBC is (apart from the fact presumably you can only use casino credit in the casino ;-) ) Casino credits are given in the form of vouchers that you CASH in at the casino cage. You can use the money any way you would like, it does not have to be used only in the casino. OBC is a credit on your shipboard account, not cash, credit.
