Getting tours at the ports

We will be stopping in Dominica, Grenada, Bonaire and Aruba.

 

We would like to take a few Island tours but don't want to get tied down with a reservation. Please tell me about getting Island tours in port. If you remember the prices, that would be great. Thanks

In Dominica we took a taxi tour of the island for $75. there was just the 2 of us but we could have done 4 people in the car for same price.

 

It was a great tour at our own pace. Look for "Campbell" with a Mercedes at the dock

In nearly every port, you will find people offering tours. The prices will vary depending on what you want to do. It is a good idea to do some research in advance to find out what sights are of interest to you.

If you decide on what spots you want to see or visit ahead of time, you can also take a cab. Just get a set price ahead of time.

At every port your mentioned there will be private tour companies. Compare costs and their itineraries.

every port we have ever been to has had tours available at the pier...we have always tried to book with the cruise line b/c we feel the extra cost is justified being that it insures you of not getting left behind if something happens

One of my favorite excursions ever was on Grenada. Our guide kept pulling the van over to the side of the road, apparently at random, then carving bark off trees (cinnamon), retrieving "stones" from lawns and peeling them (mace wound around nutmeg), yanking leaves off trees (bay)...you get the idea.

 

Sorry, only remember the guide was named "Mac...something". :rolleyes:
