Getting tours at the ports

We will be stopping in Dominica, Grenada, Bonaire and Aruba.

We would like to take a few Island tours but don't want to get tied down with a reservation. Please tell me about getting Island tours in port. If you remember the prices, that would be great. Thanks

If you decide on what spots you want to see or visit ahead of time, you can also take a cab. Just get a set price ahead of time.

At every port your mentioned there will be private tour companies. Compare costs and their itineraries.

Have you visited the "Ports of Call" message board section here at Cruise Critic? There you will find a listing for each of your ports, with tons and tons of "been there, done that" advice from those who have done all kinds of excursions -- ship based, independent, and winging it. Here's a link to the main Ports of Call Board -- http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5

Have a great cruise!

Along with the Ports of Call boards, I think the synopses of things to do on CC's main board is "must read" stuff:

Aruba -

Bonaire -

http://www.cruisecritic.com/ports/newport.cfm?ID=153

Dominica -

Grenada -

One of my favorite excursions ever was on Grenada. Our guide kept pulling the van over to the side of the road, apparently at random, then carving bark off trees (cinnamon), retrieving "stones" from lawns and peeling them (mace wound around nutmeg), yanking leaves off trees (bay)...you get the idea.

Sorry, only remember the guide was named "Mac...something".
