Driving to Miami, Hotel question

Hi there.

We'll be driving into Miami for our May 16h cruise aboard the Liberty of the Seas. Any tips on parking at the pier? Is it safe, how hard is it to find ( as an out of towner) .

We're thinking of stay at the Holiday Inn at the Port of Miami the night before. Does any one know of any other hotels in perhaps the FLL area, then we can drive in on the Saturday morning?

Suggestions welcome...

Thanks Lori

It's no more dangerous than parking anywhere else--probably safer than a mall parking lot! It's not hard to find--when you enter the port, follow the signs--it's a big garage!

Since you will have your own car, you really don't need to be so close to the port--it's most likely cheaper to stay on the outskirts, rather than right at the port area.

Check with Hotels.com or some other reservation site to find some cost-effective hotels. And then--call the hotel directly and see if they offer some "in house" special rates--many will do that! And, by booking directly with the hotel, you won't have to deal with a 3rd party!

Port of Miami from google found http://www.miamidade.gov/portofmiami/. You can drive from FLL but the Holiday Inn is a great place to see LOS in the port. You can get the hotel on priceline.com or Holiday Inn. Be sure to tell them it is a special time and you want to be able to see the port with the ship coming in. We had a very nice 2 night stay there last year.:D

The POM parking lot is as safe a place to park as you will find in Miami. It costs $20.00 per day to park at the Port. Driving into Miami, from Ft. Lauderdale is a straight drive via I-95 South.
