South America in 2010 - Oosterdam or Veendam?

In a news release dated 10/10/2008 HAL announced that the Veendam would be doing South America in 2010. On their web site and every other online TA, the Oosterdam is in South America for 2010. Anyone know what is going on? Also, there is a list of 7 night Caribbean sailings from Tampa for the Veendam in winter 2010. This is so confusing. We are currently booked on the March 23, 2010 33 day RIO to FLL sailing of the Oosterdam. Will we automatically switch to the Veendam? I need information. Thanks to anyone who can help as HAL has no idea about this yet.

The word is that the Oosterdam will be returning to the Mexico itinerary and the Veendam will take over the South America route. The Ryndam will move to Tampa to take over for the Veendam.

The website hasn't caught up with the changes yet.

There's been another thread (or two) that have discussed this thoroughly. Scroll down perhaps a page or two by now) to locate it.

As far as your booking being switched over, I suggest you be in contact with your TA to select the cabin you want and to get him/her working on it.

I was checking out several itineraries yesterday at HAL.

 

They have started to post some of the new itineraries for South America and they still have some of the old ones there.

 

They are very slow at getting the information updated.

Yes, I see where they have the Veendam posted for the November 9, 2009, sailing to SA (not Antarctica). They sure are slow about posting the rest of the SA season! Since the prices are going up after 10/31/2008, it behooves us to keep a very close eye on the HAL website, no?

You might want to check the Prinsendam for 2010. It will do a circle SA itinerary, and there should be segments.

HAL has announced that the Veendam will be taking the SA/Antarctica tours in 2009 and 2010, as the Amsterdam is presently doing. They simply haven't changed their website yet, apparently. The issue now is how much more, if any, is it going to cost those of us who are already booked on the Oosterdam. The S class ships are more expensive than the Vista class.

Tampa Girl. the Prinsendam has been doing a circle South America cruise for the last several years. It sails from, and returns to, Fort Lauderdale.

These cruises are separate and apart from the regular South America Rio/Valparaiso runs.

Yes, I am aware of that, but that is not what we wanted. That is why I wondered why the Prinsendam was even mentioned, since the Veendam is apparently being substituted for our Oosterdam cruise.
