Rare pierces Posted October 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2008 That's pretty cool! Sure would be a nervous moment if any creaking was heard! Dave
cruisetobeaches Posted October 25, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2008 That last photo must have been a little creepy to shoot!
bruce-r Posted October 25, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2008 Those are cool photos, but I'm a little disappointed they weren't Underwater photos. ;)
Ryan Wahlstrom Posted October 25, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted October 25, 2008 Yea I guess your right - maybe I should have added "...in dry dock" to the post title. I wonder if anyone has ever swam out to the ship in dock snorkeling and or scuba diving?
bruce-r Posted October 25, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2008 I wonder if anyone has ever swam out to the ship in dock snorkeling and or scuba diving?I think ship's or port security would get in the way if you tried to do that on your own. :(

Aplmac Posted January 22, 2009 #9 Share Posted January 22, 2009 Those are cool photos, but I'm a little disappointed they weren't Underwater photos. ;) I've done hull inspection photog. back in the days when I used a 15mm. lens on the Nikonos and trust me, it's not pretty. It's the dive from hell. Did inspect a cruise-ship's props one time, that was a bit more fun.. mainly coz there was a lot more light around. pilotdane Posted January 23, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 23, 2009 In college I used to scuba dive a lot. One day in the caymans I was using a rig that had a slight leak so there was a constant stream of bubbles rising right behind my head. No big deal but it was a constant bubbling noise. I was down on the bottom in a reef canyon and the sun went out. I looked up to see a zeppelin floating over. Barnacles stuck on the bottom, bubbles streaming from a few spots. It just floated quietly overhead. Then at the end were two huge propellers turning slowly. Very cool. And me without a camera.
Ryan Wahlstrom Posted January 25, 2009 Author #11 Share Posted January 25, 2009 Sounds very cool. I met a gal here in Miami that cleaned barnacles off the bottom of boats while docked in one of our local Marinas. She had a large scar on her arm - was told it was the result of a baracuda.
