stampinrobin Posted October 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2008 I am starting the process of researching our first Princess cruise and have heard mentioned here that not all balconies are covered. Is there somewhere to go that shows which balconies are covered, half covered or not covered at all? Thanks for your help. Robin

stampinrobin Posted October 26, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted October 26, 2008 thank you so much for the help and pictures! Caribe sounds like best of both worlds. We are not sun worshippers, will we be able to get enough shade in on the Caribe when we want shade? Thanks again!
jetwet1 Posted October 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2008 Caribe is great, the balconies are twice the size of the regular cabin balconies, they provide plenty of shade (of course if your facing the morning sun you are out of luck) and plenty of space to kick back and relax. For some reason I managed not to take any pictures on the balcony, no idea how that happened...but here is one that kind of gives you an idea link You can fit 4 chairs and a table and still have room to spare. iancal Posted October 26, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 26, 2008 Caribe is our absolute favourite. Large balcony and you get the best of both worlds.
jb008 Posted October 26, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 26, 2008 I'd vote go for caribe too. Well worth the slight extra cost over the BC or lower category balcony rooms.
mjtwin Posted October 26, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 26, 2008 what are the chances of getting a lounger on the caribe balcony vs chairs?
jetwet1 Posted October 26, 2008 #8 Share Posted October 26, 2008 Throw $20 at your steward and it shouldn't be an issue...or sneak upstairs and grab one during the night.
Druke I Posted October 26, 2008 #9 Share Posted October 26, 2008 Do keep in mid that sandytoes' descriptions apply to Grand/modified Grand class, and perhaps Coral class ships. Sun class ships have hull cut balconies, and the three Renaissance class (Royal/Pacific/Island) are much closer to hull cut.

aquagirl1 Posted October 26, 2008 #12 Share Posted October 26, 2008 would anyone know if the balconies on the Lido deck are covered? Thanks
LuvTheGoodLife Posted October 26, 2008 #13 Share Posted October 26, 2008 Lido deck balcony is fully covered and sized 9 ft wide x 5 ft deep. Since Lido is a Cat. BA, I believe, I would choose a Caribe deck balcony in Category BA and get the larger balcony ( 9 ft x 9 ft)....
flamomo Posted October 26, 2008 #14 Share Posted October 26, 2008 Another benefit of the larger balconies on the Caribe deck is that those we've had have a dining-height table, instead of a small low one that is big enough to set your drinks on and not much else. We had the ultimate balcony breakfast served on our balcony, and it was a lovely experience. that cost just $26 or 28 for 2 people.
LuvTheGoodLife Posted October 27, 2008 #15 Share Posted October 27, 2008 To Mjtwin re: lounger on Caribe balcony Do not be upset if your cabin steward denies the request for a lounger on the balcony. Princess has become stricter about flammable items on the balconies and the pool side loungers apparently do not meet flame retardant standards for cabin balcony furniture.
