Rare Psoque Posted November 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2008 I apologize if this topic has been covered to death previously. We are spending a couple of days in Barcelona both before and after the cruise, and we are planning to go to a tapas bar or two during the visit. I know that there are a lot of recommendations from various sources on the web (including here), but what I haven't found on the web is a pictorial guide on what to order. Do you know if there's a website (or a book) that describes a typical offering in a Barcelona tapas bar, with pictures? My understanding is that most tapas bars do not have printed menus. We are very much on the adventuresome side of things when it comes to food, but we would like to be a little more educated before we actually do this. Also, any recommendations about tapas bars in Barcelona would be also helpful to us.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted November 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2008 Here is a link to some common Catalan tapas: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.eatcatalunya.com/images/stories/tapas%2520menu1_0126.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.eatcatalunya.com/tapas/tapas.html&h=232&w=350&sz=51&hl=en&start=78&usg=__acGDEIpKpkwO34NUmWxBofHSaXk=&tbnid=GRdoD6iddpauEM:&tbnh=80&tbnw=120&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dtapas%26start%3D60%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN Some things you will obviously recognize such as the ham (jamon) and cheese (queso). If you search Google images for "tapas", you may find more. Actually, I found in Barcelona that a lot of bars did have menus for tapas.
painfree Posted November 1, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2008 Hi.. We chose Txpela on the Passig De Garcia for our pre-cruise Meet & Greet Tapas party because their menu was in English with pictures..The restaurant is in an excellent location and we enjoyed sidewalk dining..(this was late Sept 2007)..Hope this is helpful..
