Remember when Carnival used to

First cruise on the Carnival Carnivale in 1978. I had just turned 21 in august and sailed the week b4 Christmas. WOW that was when Carnival would assign you a roommate if you were travling single and you wanted one. We partied EVERY NIGHT on board. It was amazing. That was when I found out that all the furniture was bolted down. DAHHHHH. You are on a moving ship.

Today I am a little more quiet but still enjoy partying.

My cousin and I signed our names on a table full of females. My parents and other family filled their table so we ventured out. The first night we met the women in their 50's who were our tablemates for 7 nights :) Not that women in their 50's are a bad thing, I sleep with one now!

Funny how our perceptions change over the years isn't it?;)

Streamers and a big full blown deck party at sailaway are two things I definitely miss. I do remember way back on my first cruises when I was just a kid that every night was formal and we would send our "steamer trunks" ahead and they'd be waiting in our cabin when we arrived. The ship had a large indoor movie theater with first run films and my parents signed me up for dance lessons with the dance "professionals". Not many kids back then knew the foxtrot, rumba and waltz and funny, but it was never very useful at the school dances either...:D

And that's young compared to the avarage age of a Hawaii cruise!

Not so on our Hawaiian cruise. The Average age was probably anywhere from 45 to 55.

Your're lucky. Was it a Pacific crossing?

I cruised for the first time with my parents on the Carnivale around 1978

Funniest thing was we were allowed to play slot machines in the casino! My DB picked a dime up off the floor and hit some kind of jackpot. I remember this because I was mad!

Our first cruise was on Carnivale as well in 1981. I was 4 and my brother was 10. He actualy won 5000 nickles ($250.00) on a slot machine and "Mr Clean" the old actor from the Mr. Clean commercials had his picture made with him. Gallager, the watermellon smashing comedian was the comedy act. Eventhough, I was young I remember all of it vividly. Damn that room was tiny! We went through some old family albums last year and I had forgot how small it was! Had to have been around 75 square feet total. Even with two adults and two kids, thats some cramped quarters!

I remember being in the male nightgown contest. We were all put in a bar to wait to go out on stage. But there was no bartender. It was the closest I have ever been to mutiny. All dressed up in nighties and starting to sober up we all started yelling for a bartender. I did not see many beers ordered unless they were to wash down shots. I made it to the finals, but I think the beard cost me my chance:). This was on the Festivale around

1988 or so. My telephone in the room never worked, but I did not really need it other than to arrange meeting times at the bar. so we all just met when ever. Good times and memories, Ted

I remember when you could buy alcohol in the duty free shop on board and take it back to your cabin.:D

f!

When I went on Elation in '99, I brought along a large Coleman electric cooler, full of beer. They didn't so much as blink an eye when I carried it on board!
