No you haven't died and gone to Heaven

it's only Bottom Bay, in Barbados

You'll definitely need a taxi to get to this place since it's kinda Off The Beaten Track

and even further out there than Crane, but the pilgrimage is probably worth it.

I took this shot yesterday Boxing Day...hope you can feel the breeze.

WOW the pictures are amaizing.... I might just have to go back and look at them again. It is a rainy ( yes here in Ontario Canada~across the river from Detroit) 57 degrees out, all the snow has melted ( until tomorrow) I sent the link to my girlfriend we are looking for a cruise to do next Feb. and I think this might be it. Thank you for sharing your magnificent pictures!!!

We are looking for a cruise to do next Feb. and I think this might be it.

Thank you for sharing your magnificent pictures!!! ===> My pleasure..

The one-week Victory cruise is very nice, with a new port every day.

You leave San Juan P.Rico at 10 p.m. Sunday nite

and it's St.Thomas the next day.

Tuesday is Dominica the rainforest island(waterfalls..not beach)

Wedensday is Barbados(beach..not waterfalls)

Then it's St.Lucia on Thursday (island tour)

Antigua Friday (another beach day fer sure)

St.Kitts Saturday (island tour?)

and then back to PR by next Sunday!

Who could ask for more?

Thanks again for the great pics! ===> You're welcome.

Are there any live bands on the Victory?

There's the orchestra that plays in the hydraulic pit in Caribbean Showlounge

you can just see a bit of them in this shot..

and I think I recall an island-calypso-type band/combo up on deck a few times

but couldn't swear to the latter

Carlisle Bay...

CBay-4.jpg

..is not far from your ship.

The Port's just West of Bridgetown...and Carlisle Bay's just East of Bridgetown!

This is the beach that Boatyard is located on

but you don't necessarily have to pay $15/20 to go thru Boatyard's entance

although that 15-20 bux will get you stuff like a chair a drink, use of the showers etc.

Lobster_s_umbrellas.jpg

Beaches are legally free, on Barbados...just a matter of finding an access

-there's one just 50 yds. beyond Boatyard, near another cool joint called Lobster Alive

use your imagination as to what this place is all about ..lunch?

Lobster_lookout1.jpg

My point is... Carlisle bay is 2 miles long ..a big sweeping curve of a beach

and you can make it as busy or as quiet as U like

by your proximity/or not.. to Boatyard and other places along its fringes!

Your other choice might be ACCRA, or Rockley Beach as its real name is..

That's a little ways down the South Coast, prob about 15 mins. away.

A popular beach and nowhere near the 2 miles of Carlisle

it can be a bit crowded at times

but when you see pics like these..

Accra-849.jpg

Accra-4.jpg

..you'll understand why!

Aplmac, thanks for the pics.

Is there any bathrooms or change rooms on ACCRA beach?

I am cruising on the victory on January 25, 2009 and have read alot about rude PR people all over the ship. Playing loud music and just causing problems. Did either of you experience any of that behavior on your cruise? Thanks again for the in depth review.

Rob12866 I have cruised with Destiny from PR several times now and have not found the PR people rude at all. In fact I have found them to be very friendly.

It is my opinion that you will find a certian percentage of the population that lacks manners where ever you go.

No problems with PR.ppl that stand out in my memory, on the Victory cruise.

Sure, some of them can be a bit uncivilized (cluelessly standing in the way, etc)

and I recall on our way out of the PR harbour a little after 10 p.m. Sunday night

hearing some of them hollering up on top deck, obviously a bit too much to drink, etc.

and I thought..."OHboy, here we go -I've heard the stories, too!"

but pleasantly, that was about the 'worst' behaviour I came across.

I too have read about uncivilized, unsavoury cruises ex-PR

where the ship was opened to riff-raff at deal prices anyone could afford

but I rather think these cruises-from-hell are the exception, not the rule.

Plus...the ship is big enough you can escape unpleasant scenes and behaviour.

I wouldn't worry about it, unless you're on something like a Spring Break cruise

in which case a simple garland of fresh herbs and garlic worn around the neck

should suffice to ward off all evil entities. :D

If it's any consolation to you,

the PR girls are awfully cute ;)

If that's not possible, post more pics of the cruise destinations.. ;)

...like these four ..of St.John's Parish Church, over on the East coast of Barbados.

Nice views from this spot btw
