sbell1 Posted November 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2008 We have only sailed the port of Miami previously. Royal Caribbean's luggage pick up after debarkation is on a revolving carousal (with sometimes long waits). How is luggage pick up handled at Port Everglades? Thanks
rkacruiser Posted November 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2008 The luggage is placed in a large, warehouse-type area under various color banners. The banners match the color on the tags you will be given to put on your luggage prior to leaving the ship. One goes to that area and locates the luggage. Porters, with carts, are roaming around the area--or sometimes there is a line that forms to obtain a porter--and the luggage is taken out of the terminal to your transportation. bouhunter Posted November 30, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2008 February will be our first time at Port Everglades. This doesn't sound like a great system. You just look for your luggage amongst hundreds of other bags laying on the floor??

royalcruz Posted November 30, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 30, 2008 It isn't hard at all, as there are only so many bags in each section, but then we have tapestry luggage. Like at the airport, good luck if you have black suitcases, so make sure you make your luggage stand out.
rkacruiser Posted November 30, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 30, 2008 I agree that it is not difficult at all. The color coding system is the key. If you are given, let's say, a yellow tag to put on your luggage, you look for the yellow banner hanging from the terminal's ceiling and your luggage should be located in that area under the banner. The only time there would be a problem would be if the stevedores put your luggage under the wrong color banner. I have known it to happen; but, it is rare. By all means, if your luggage is a common color and/or style, put something on it, as a previous poster has suggested, to help make the luggage stand out. Also, there will be cruise line representatives in the area to help you, if that is needed.
Treven Posted December 1, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 1, 2008 Ditto, it's not a problem at all. Yes, if your luggage is black or tan, put something on the bag(s) to make them stand out.
