Upgrade fairy and new Carnival pricing policy

I just received an upgrade from a 4A guarantee to a 4E (theoretically a $300 per stateroom saving). When I booked, I was offered a one category upgrade (4A to 4B) as a past passenger incentive.

 

Because we always book a guarantee and usually do quite well, I felt that the past passenger upgrade wasn't attractive. So I'm glad I booked the guarantee.

 

Now that Carnival is not giving out OBC or credits due to reductions in price after the penalty period, I will most definately stick to a guarantee cabin. However, we are not really fussy about location (i.e. back or front vs. center of the ship)

Did you book through a TA or carrnival? Just curious... We sail on the 29th of January and our cabin is yet to be assigned. We booked a gty OV. When should I expect to hear anything?

We booked through a TA, we just received the cabin assignment today for our January 23 sailing.

I orginally booked thru a PVP and transferred to a TA before final payment. My cruise is Jan 24th, and have had the cabin assigned for about a month or 3 weeks now. I booked very early so thats maybe why I got assigned earlier plus I paid in full early.

I checked after I posted to this thread and our cabin was assigned. We are we are in an OV aft. is this any good or should I consider upgrading?
