cruises that leave from France

I am looking for a cruise that leaves from France (possibly Nice, but open to all options) in Summer of 2009. We want to spend a week in Paris and the south of france before embarking on a mediterranean cruise. Any ideas? Thanks!

I took a wonderful river cruise through Provence on the Peter Dielmann line r/t Lyon in early September last year. (Highly recommend)

I flew into Paris and took the fast train down to Lyon.

I guess it depends on where your Mediterranean cruise originates, but it's very easy to travel between cities in France.

RCCL's French cruiseline, Croisieres de France offers cruises from Marseilles I believe. Everything onboard is completely in French so unless you speak French it may not be something you will be interested in.

 

You could always look at taking the train down to Barcelona where many Mediterranean cruises begin which would give you more choices. Or if you are just looking to cruise you could take the Chunnel over to England for cruises out of Southampton, Harwich, or Dover.

Oh gosh, you are so lucky. Lyon has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. :)

On an RCL cruise, our cruise started at Southampton and the next day we stopped for the day at Le Harve. Several couples got on the ship at that port. They decided to do their pre cruise in Paris and miss the first night of the cruise.

There are a couple of Cunard that leave from Cherbourg, other than that, Monaco might be a good starting place and close enough to the South of France to board. I don't think I've seen anything that starts in Nice. Although we'd love that!!

Another alternative would be cruises originating from Rome or Venice.
