Majesty Notes - 4-night, 12/8-12/12/08

The Majesty is a GREAT ship. The refurbishments and additions that were made last year really ramp her up a notch. I was just on her for a B2B in September, but here we go again................

This was a "Girls Cruise". We had special t-shirts designed by Master Leader that said "All of the Fun, None of the Drama". And we lived by that motto.

The assistant CDs are all great..........they have great activities, and are a lot of fun at trivia. If you have any interest in trivia, karaoke, games........these guys are GOOD.

The Schooner Bar is our favorite bar to hang out in. Bolero's is "half" smoking, so we only went there when we were playing trivia.

Never made it up to the Viking Crown Lounge, so I'm not sure how "popular" it is or how crowded.

I LOVE Deck 12 - Johnny Rockets, Sorrento's and Compass Deli all in a row, with nice seating for eating or playing cards (which we did). We also played cards in the Library.

Casino slots were TIGHT. We each hit a little bit, but never came out ahead. Two of us (not me) played in the Royale Poker Tournament. They didn't advance to the next round, but had fun.

They didn't hold the Slots Tournament, because only a couple of people signed up.

The production shows are good, but I had seen them before. The comedian was HYSTERICAL, and we hung out with him in the casino. It was Tony Daro, but I doubt that he is staying on. He may show up again, though. :)

Jimmy Rhodes is a VERY good CD. And he remembered me. ;) (not quite the way that Johnny O will always remember me...................... :D)

Food in the MDR was good to very good. We had a six top for the four of us, and our waiter, Restituto, was good. Sarno the asst. waiter has more to learn, but he tried. Headwaiter was awful, and we named him Achmed the Terrorist. (do you know the ventriloquist Jeff Dunham and his act?)

I had a lot of fun in port because I was the only one of the four who had been in those places, and I enjoyed playing "tour guide". We hired a cab in Nassau to show us around, and we enjoyed that. It was very windy and just "warm" in CocoCay, but it was beautiful, as always. Even the iguanas were annoyed with the weather - we only saw THREE. We stayed late in Nassau because the weather forecast between Nassau and CocoCay wasn't good, and the Captain wanted to hang in port later. We had originally been scheduled to leave at 6, but stayed until midnight.

Tendering to CocoCay was fine, but we kept an eye on the sky in case the wind really kicked up. There were huge rainstorms in Key West, and we were late getting to the dock, so Captain Bjorn said that he would make up the missed hour and add half an hour, and we stayed until 7, which means that we actually returned to the ship in the dark. Beautiful.

We rode the Old Town Trolley in Key West and got an overview, then did some shopping on Duval Street and went to the Hemingway House. Love those polydactyl cats! We had Key Lime Pie at Kermit's, and sampled all of their freebees. (salsa, salad dressing, sauces, etc.)

Captain Bjorn is a very friendly and funny captain - we enjoyed all of his announcements. "Wakey, wakey!"

Photographs are still overpriced and I saw very few people buying. We did a "lifestyle portrait" together in our special "Girls Cruise - All the Fun, None of the Drama" t-shirts. Yeah, we bought the pics.

We ate at Johnny Rockets on formal night - we really loved NOT bringing formalwear on this short getaway. Love those onion rings, french fries, combo burgers and Oreo sundaes!

Compass Deli is included in your cruisefare, and I recommend the 3 Cheese Panini. The tuna melt is a little dry, unless you can get them to put more cheese in it before heating. There was a turkey avocado wrap that someone had that was yummy, too.

The Platinum/Diamond/Diamond Plus party was very crowded. I know that there were some people there who were not "entitled", but got in anyway. I don't really care, just sayin'.....................

Carol - thanks for the great review! I was with Carol and we really did enjoy the Majesty. Hope to go back next summer and have a reunion.

Captain Bjorn is hysterical - everytime he was on the speaker he said "wakey, wakey" and "easy, peasey". Very nice guy - enjoyed listening to him at the Platinum/Diamond party.

So here we all are back to reality! Great cruise and even better cruising buddies. :D Mary

I also thank you for the very good review. It has gotten us very interested in taking this cruise after a 1 year hiatus from cruising which happens to be one of my favorite ways of getting away from the rat race.
