I just checked and there's only cabins above my cabin.Majesty's Cabin#6084 is the one I booked.Small but it's only a 4 night cruise.So I'm sure I can make it work.

Well it say's in the description of the room that it's 122 sq ft.That's why I was looking at the SOV's on the Majesty.Their 157 sq ft....A little more room never hurt anyone.I'd like a balcony but those suckers sell out quick on popular cruises.

But I'm still looking and asking questions.

the smaller ships dont have as many balconies as the bigger ships- that is wh they cost many $$.

 

122 sq feet? holy crap. Carnival rooms are 185 sq feet. I sailed Royal Voyager and the balcony I had sounds bigger then your cabin--lol

 

what ports are you interested in?

 

have you checked out the cruise critic groups? cheap prices on some.

 

(ps--if sailing during huricane season you take the chance of certain ports being cancelled

The older RCI ships have teensy, weensy cabins--like closets with beds! You won't be in there, much, since it's so small. For short cruises, it will do. There will be no noise issues.

Actually that is not correct. Directly above you is the promenade (walkway/running) area. You will occasionally hear noise from people running on this deck...particularly in the morning.

Yeah "holy crap" is right serene56.That's really small.The cruise I'm taking is going to Key West,Nassau and Coco Cay,Bahamas on the April,09 sailing.And since we hit a port every morning I'll only be in there to sleep,shower and change.

I did check out the group cruises.The one out of NY city on May 8th looks great but 9 days is too long.I'm looking for 4 or 5 nights for my first cruise.

I don't think that'll be an issue since I'm a really early riser.But it's good to know.

Which leads me to another question;Is everything opened 24/7 or do certain areas of the ship close at a certain time and reopen in the morning?

By law "stuff" will be closed when you are within so many miles of a port. Stores, casinos are closed. Food places will be opened as will the food . Pools close about 8- one will be opened til 10.

 

A port intensive cruise is not relaxing-- i tried one out of San Juan. :eek: never again- I like my sea days.

 

You are not going to be able to favorable compare a 4 day cruise with a longer cruise- I couldnt take a 9 day cruise either= for me the 7 day ones are perfect.

Well I know I'll be getting off the ship for Key West and Coco Cay.For Nassau it depends wether I feel like it or not since I've already been to Nassau.They do have a Thriller high speed boat ride I'd love to take but I'll just play it by ear and we'll see....

I would love to go back to Key West when the weather is cooler- We went there the first week in Sept and the humidty was so stifling. I last 30 minutes out there- April would be perfect

That is good to know.I look forward to walking and taking the trolley here and there.And it's alot more comfortable when it's not blazing hot!
