pharmdawg Posted December 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2008 If I use the Royal Caribbean transfers to get from the airport to the cruise port, do I have to get my luggage off the bus or van when it gets to the port or does RCI take it from the bus or van to the ship? wrp96 Posted December 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2008 The porters will take the bags from the bus for you. Once you put them on the bus at the airport, you don't have to handle them again until they show up at your stateroom onboard. You may be asked by the bus driver to tip the porters loading up the luggage from the bus.
cruisin4kicks Posted December 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Taking RCI transfers from LAX to San Pedro (which we will NEVER do again), when we got to the cruise terminal, the driver unloaded all the luggage off the bus and we had to carry it to the porters so they could check the luggage in. In Miami (which we WOULD do again) when you take the RCI transfer from MIA to the cruise terminal, once RCI takes your luggage at the airport and you get on the bus, you never see it again until it gets delivered to your cabin on the ship. We've never used RCI transfers at any other city/cruise terminal. Tim
cccer Posted December 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 19, 2008 We have never used the transfers, always taken cabs. Talking to people who have taken transfers, it is a lot quicker to tack cabs since you don't have to wait for the bus to fill up. Also the cost is cheaper, unless you are going to FLD. spike1739 Posted December 19, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Once you get to the airport in SJ you get your luggage, see a Royal C.repr, who when they have a large enough group takes you outside the terminal to a waiting truck, where you turn your luggage over to them. The next time you see your luggage is in your room. You then board the bus for a trip to ship. madforcruising Posted December 19, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 19, 2008 I´ve seen it handled different ways. But I always make sure my luggage makes it on the bus, truck or whatever the transportation is and if I´m on the same bus I make sure to see it is unloaded and tqaken care of by a porter I have tipped.;)
TEXASMUNK Posted December 19, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Working a charter cruise ( I was the rep. from the Incentive Travel company). Pax arrive on Eastern. Talking to rep from luggage transfers company....perfect English. We head to the ship (Cunard Adventurer)...Everything perfect....except missing one truck load of luggage. Head back to the airport. Meet up with the guy I had been talking to all day. Explain the missing truck load. Suddenly, he loses the ability to speak English. Hour and a half of frustration....Found truck parked at the Eastern Airlines cargo terminal. San Juan can be an interesting place!!!!
cb at sea Posted December 19, 2008 #8 Share Posted December 19, 2008 If you're flying into MIA and going to the port of Miami, just do a cab--it's faster and cheap enough--no dealing with buses (the ride is just not smooth!) or checking in with busloads of folks.
