Grandma of 4 Posted December 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2008 For those of you who have sailed on the Eurodam, do you think a 10:55 flight out of Fort Lauderdale is feasible?
jhannah Posted December 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2008 The airport is virtually within sight of the port, so getting there is pretty quick. However, if there's a later flight you might want to consider it. While most disembarkations go smoothly, there are times that someone hasn't settled their onboard account (or some other reason) thus delaying getting off the ship. Also, the more ships in port, the longer it will take to get through security at the airport. That's the real bottleneck and hindrance to making an early flight. Travalerie Posted December 21, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2008 We had an 11:35 flight with 2 small kids and made it...BUT who really wants to miss a flight? We had plenty of time, but I thought I was kind of pushing it. If anything had gone wrong or we were delayed we might have missed it.
Zeta3 Posted December 21, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2008 Depends on when you are flying. It took us aproximately 90 minutes to get checked in and through security this morning at FLL.
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 21, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 21, 2008 Eurodam -- Sarurday in Ft Lauderdale. Check either cruisereport or cruisett to find out how many ships are in that day. If there are a lot schedule for your Saturday -- the airport can be a zoo. Persoanlly I wouldn't book a flight until after Noon.
haligonian37 Posted December 21, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 21, 2008 It would also depend on how many other ships are disembarking that morning as well. I flew out (1:30pm flight) of FLL when there were 5 ships in and it was hellish to put it mildly.....check in line ups overflowing out of the terminals on to the sidewalk. I wouldn't have wanted to be the person with an early flight that day. Plus, who wants to put themselves through the stress of trying to make an early flight when you've just completed a wonderful cruise? :)
JaneMo Posted December 21, 2008 #8 Share Posted December 21, 2008 HI, We are booked for March21-28 cruise. Our plane leaves Fort Lauderdale at 10:55a.m. also. Otherwise we would have to wait for 5 hours as there was no available flights. So we chose the 10:55 flight. When are you cruising? Let me know if you have any problems. thanks.:)
azkcruizers Posted December 21, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 21, 2008 I had considered booking an early flight after disembarking the Eurodam, and when posed the same question on this board I decided to take an afternoon flight. After thinking about it, I have stood in some long check in and security lines in airports. If the ship or disembarkment was delayed for any reason I knew how much it was going to cost me to miss that flight. I was afraid to take that chance. I ended up booking an afternoon flight and will instead take my time and have a nice last breakfast on board and not have to worry about whether or not I'll make that flight.:) Karen
wilsonqbc Posted December 22, 2008 #10 Share Posted December 22, 2008 Our flight is at 1450 hrs so I guess thats ample time, I hope. I would be very sad if we missed the plane. So I guess we have time for breakfast, and if we left the vessel at 10 am we should be ok then?
maxxboy Posted December 22, 2008 #11 Share Posted December 22, 2008 We had an 11:30AM flight. Disembarked the Eurodam, got luggage, went through customs, got a taxi to the airport, checked in, went through security and at the gate about an hour before the flight.
