Booking Excursion times???

Usually you have to be back on the ship 30 minutes before it sails. But if you are doing excursions on your own give yourself more time to get back to ths ship. Factor in traffic jams, a taxi cab breakdown etc because unless you are on one of the cruise tours the ship will not wait for you if you are not back on time.

Yes, as Keith said, everyone is supposed to be back onboard 1/2 hour before sailing. That being said, I also agree that you need to give yourself extra leeway for the "just in case it happens" scenario. Private vendors do not want you to miss the ship, but things happen. (We JUST made it back one time in St. Lucia. . . very scary!)

Booking with the cruise line ensures you will make it to the ship. Booking on your own can be tricky. If you book with a private company, make sure to tell them when you need to be back to the ship. They will usually accommodate you. If you are on your own, give yourself at least an hour. Strange things can happen...
