If so we would be happy to have a drink together for a bit....just not inside a casino...too much smoke at least last time I was in one it was. rednancy1 Posted January 26, 2009 #1810 Share Posted January 26, 2009 Rancher Dave, We can't stand smoky casinos either. We can meet at a non smoking place or come to our house in NW Vegas. We'd love to have you visit. :):):) We have 2 brazen golden retrievers that must be petted. :o
The Big Booper Posted January 26, 2009 #1811 Share Posted January 26, 2009 ..<<snip>>..Maybe some were........I can tell you that Bobbie was very disappointed in what she saw. The day was, in round figures, $900.00 per person for the excursion..<<snip>>.. Rick Ouch. Es muy expensivo. It would be interesting to see what all the "exotic" excursions cost. Hair-raising. If we ever did a segment of this trip, I can see spending more on the side trips then the basic cruise.
suzyluvs2cruise Posted January 26, 2009 #1812 Share Posted January 26, 2009 Carol - I'm really enjoying following your cruise as you bring the Mariner to us on the West Coast. rubrrick Posted January 26, 2009 #1817 Share Posted January 26, 2009 Good afternoon to all on the Mariner. The next one on the ship to read this, please tell Bobbie she has important email!! Thanks I have read the BA-29 shore excurision to Iguazu Falls.......and I think that the group should be entitled to more back than is being offered. I have sent a detailed mail to Bobbie to take and talk to the shorex people. I think that somewhere between a 70% and full refund may be legally due them. I don't know who Carol has been talking to.....but the ones that Bobbie has been talking to are seeing the $300.00 refund as a slap in the face. Not good guys on the Mariner. You are going to need to sharpen your pencils a little better than that. Rick

Merion_Mom Posted January 26, 2009 Author #1819 Share Posted January 26, 2009 Carol, Where on Labadee is the beach expansion shown in your photos? Enjoying your trip report and photos. Bobbie has written a very well-phrased letter of explanation to the Shorex people, and is waiting to find out their response. aucruiser, if you cross the peninsula to the other side, Dragon's Breath is to your far left. In the middle is a long uninterrupted stretch of beach. That is what has always been there. To the far right was undeveloped trees/undergrowth/"jungle". This is what is being bulldozed and turned into new beach. It's not a disruption at all - there was no beach there before. This will create a new, longer beach on that side of the peninsula. The pier construction is off the far end of the side of the peninsula facing where the ship anchors out. They are also building a lot of new bathrooms! :D :D :D
Merion_Mom Posted January 26, 2009 Author #1820 Share Posted January 26, 2009 we didn't win crap. I always win crap. Last night, I won another &%#$@ keychain playing "Name it, Sing It" in the Lotus Lounge. I could have had more, but I confused Joanne by turning them down. Then I got to dance with the oh-so-charming Marc of the CD's staff. ;) :)
Merion_Mom Posted January 26, 2009 Author #1821 Share Posted January 26, 2009 We really needed Celia last night. Simeon's Name That Tune trivia at 8 P.M. was DISNEY. He played a few bars of a song, and you had to tell the MOVIE from which it came, NOT the name of the song. And there were repeats, but you didn't know how many. (Cinderella was used three times!) Rare NorbertsNiece Posted January 26, 2009 #1825 Share Posted January 26, 2009 We had a private tour (thank you, Jane! (astralj)) to an estancia (ranch) outside of Buenos Aires. It was a fantastic, amazing day. First, there was a long-ish bus ride, but it was enlightening to drive through the countryside. Our guide, Susanah, was fascinating, friendly and sweet. We stopped at a "gas station/rest stop" that had a very nice gift shop. I bought some very nice necklaces, and others bought leather goods and local wine. (more about that later) The Estancia is called Ombu. We rode horses, saw a gaucho show, had a MEAT lunch with singer and guitarist. There was a swimming pool, which I jumped into after the horseback riding, but no one else did. VERY refreshing. And now, the pictures. Of course, I had to have my own personal gaucho: More estancia pictures: Gaucho with "big knife": ;) note that I am now in my bathing suit coverup, because I have been swimming: I want a gaucho.... and I want a gaucho NOW !!!
