Hi everyone, from a refugee from leg 1. I came home with a healthy case of bronchitis that had just developed the last night in Rio before I had to get off. I've been saying ever since, I shouldn't have gotten off the ship but I guess I'm just as well off to suffer at home. I'm really sorry to hear that so many are sick on the ship. I managed to spread the germ to at least one of my friends at home and since have quarantined myself to prevent the spreading any further. After having such a wonderful time with old friends and new on leg 1, sitting at home alone is certainly depressing. Fortunately, I have several new trips to look forward to and I hope to see many of you again before the year is out. I think I'll go buy a bottle of Chilean wine to drown mu sorrows and maybe a few of the remaining germs from the ship.

I re-boarded, and Marc (CD's staff) took one look at me and escorted me to the infirmary. It was 8:30, and they don't open until 9. I waited.

Hey Carol, is Marc a white, bald guy from like..Kentucky? I guess that isn't the best description, but you'd know him if it was. He was on the Mariner last summer and was awesome.

OH! and get well soon!

Hey, Rick, they were having a special at the car wash this week. I had some flames painted on the side of your car. I think Bobbie will love it!....:p:D

<jk>

Jean - just don't tell him about sending the car through the car wash with all the windows down. Maybe everything will have dried out by the time he and Bobbie get back.:D

Ya know, I left the windows down so it would dry out faster and darned if it didn't rain cats & dogs today.:eek:

Carol (and everybody else who's afflicted), I hope the meds work quickly and that you're back on your feet soon!

Yikes, Carol.

Reminds me of me in Montevideo and Buenos Aires for three days. I was having an absolutely horrible allergy attack that was turning into a full sinus infection. We wandered into a pharmacy in Montevideo and my wife a registered nurse by education, and the pharmacist tried to communicate and suceded poorly. I ended up with some over the counter meds. Next day in Buenos Aires with our super tour guide and another pharmacy and I got two or three prescription meds including an antibiotic. It saved me from a non life threatening but miserable few days. By the time we went to the Tango show that night I felt almost human.

Hi Carol

Hope you're feeling better. I came down with something in BA and it took me a week back in Sydney to finally shake the chest infection and sore throat. Lots of rest and some alcohol thrown in to kill the little nasties. I also self medicated with antibiotics.
