How can we get off the ship quicker at the ports?

We are on RCCL's Radiance of the Seas Feb 1 from Valparaiso---we won't take many, if any, cruise-sponsored excursions. Does this mean we will have to tender-off after those on cruise-sponsored excursions have tendered? Can we beat this? (It doesn't seem fair, does it?)

Yes, you will have to wait unless RCI, like on HAL, Deluxe suite guests have priority tendering and can go ashore as soon as tendering begins. Otherwise, those on ship excursions go first and then all others.

Yes, it's fair. Book ship's excursions if you want off early. We all know those are the terms.

I agree with paul929207. Some cruise lines will let pax off on early tender if they show that they have early indi tours. If you do have any early indi tour - make sure you have paperwork to prove it:).

That depends. Are you good swimmers??

We've not had to deal with many tender ports as most of the time we've docked but when we have we've either chosen a cruise-sponsored excursion(and actually enjoyed them), made sure that we booked a private excursion that didn't start extremely early so still tendered in plenty of time to make our excursion or chosen that port to be our day to explore on our own without an actual prebooked excursion.

If I cruise to relax then I choose to make choices that will limit frustration which ultimately make our days much more enjoyable. :)
