shopping in carribean

I have been to many islands in the Caribbean and all of them are more than happy to take our American dollars. I can't recall ever seeing anything priced in local currency. I would think if you went off the beaten path to a local grocery store, etc. this might not be the case. I would say that 95 per cent of the time American money will work just fine. Happy Cruising!!!

The majority of shops and small straw market booths you find in the areas around the docks market items in U.S. dollars. Have been to ports where prices were only marked in local currency, mostly in the deep Southern Caribbean itineraries. Of course you also find many shops throughout the Caribbean where no prices are posted. Those are the shops where good bargainers can get some great deals.
