flashdog_1 Posted January 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2009 Freestyle 2.0 talks about a signature dish for each restaurant but so far I haven't been able to ascertain what the signature dish is. I saw the show on Pearl where a waitress was offering the hostess a sample of some food. Don't know if that was the sample I'd heard about or if it was just a canape offered in a bar. Anyone ? Thanks

Thanks I have to say that honestly I found that show to be kind of misleading about a few things. I am not saying they don't walk around offering those samples, but I can tell you that out of four sailings we have had on NCL, three of which were within the last 14 months, we never saw them do that. And the first thing we do when we get onboard is walk around every deck trying to learn our way around. Again, I'm not saying they don't do that, I'm just saying we have never seen them do that. llachance Posted January 7, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2009 on the Jewel, if you went to the specialty restaurants they had samples of what was there....
SnootieTootie Posted January 7, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2009 On our 10-19 - 10-26 2008 sailing of the Pearl, they did offer samples at the entrance to the specialty restaurant's. I especially remember the creme brulee. Also, many of the bars offered small samples of there drinks, which were actually sitting on the bar. Believe me, this chubby girl can sniff out food samples anywhere she goes. Terrymex, we were on the same sailing as you. My DH and I met you in the VIP check in room, and other times throughout the trip. We are fellow Weight Watcher's!

Thanks On your freestyle daily when you board it will tell you what time the tasting is offered. On the Sky cruises we did in December they were all held at the same time in the three different restaurants. We were able to do all three since you just walk and take a taste or two and then leave and go to the next one. It was nice.

jocap Posted January 7, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 7, 2009 On embarcation day on Jade last summer, I wandered from the outside Garden into the Italian next door. An Australian chef who looked as though he could take on the whole English Rugby team singled-handed asked if he could help. Not sure about whether I was in some private area, I said I was just being nosey. He replied: "Ma'am, you've got to be nosey to find out anything. Now have a nosey at these!" and produced a tray of the most scrumtious Italian desserts, continuing to chat the while. Days later I discovered he was the Head Chef of the whole ship, and what a fantastic job he did! No surprise that we're back on Jade next month. Happy tasting!-jocap. flashdog_1 Posted January 7, 2009 Author #11 Share Posted January 7, 2009 Thanks for answering PART of my question. But those answers raise yet another. Were all the samplings on embarkation day of desserts? Thanks Now back to the other: WHAT are the signature dishes in each restaurant?
SnootieTootie Posted January 7, 2009 #12 Share Posted January 7, 2009 There were indeed samplings of all kinds of foods, not just desserts. They were tiny bites, mind you. The only one that I can remember however, is the creme brulee, and some brightly colored drinks at the bar, blue, green, etc..

flashdog_1 Posted January 8, 2009 Author #14 Share Posted January 8, 2009 I'd really like to know. I suppose the waiter can inform us. Is it something that is offered every night, on special nights or what? is it related to the lobster in every restaurant? Help

Is it something that is offered every night, on special nights or what? is it related to the lobster in every restaurant? Help The menu in the specailty restaurants does not change through out the week. If you can find recent postings of the specialty menus, my memory is that it specifies what their signature dishes are. ie. The Lotus Garden on the Pearl I believe ( and don't stone me if I am wrong) the warm banana pancake dessert is one of their signature dishes.
