Where to hang out on Radiance Class ships?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have never been on the Radiance class ships but I am booked on the Serenade in April...We have always had the promenade before on Voyager and Liberty and loved the English theme style pub with the live entertainment...Is there anything like that on the Serenade? When I look at the deck plans it doesn't look like there is....

Thanks to all the experiences "Radiance" class experts!

I'm not sure about Serenade, but Jewel had a crepe station on it in the Solarium. I could usually be found "hanging out" there nightly sometime between 10pm and midnight.:)

Great, now if they would just put in an Anchor Bar, I'll book every cruise on her.

Well, my favorite places were the Schooner Bar depending on how good the piano player was, or the Safari Club, where they usually have music playing every night and/or game shows. Plus you can watch the self leveling pool tables (or try them out yourself).

I don't think the foreign travelers could handle the suicide wings :D

Another great spot to "hang out" on Radiance ships --- believe it or not --- is the elevators. They have spectacular ocean front views. I don't think any other class ships have elevators looking out to the sea.

No more crepes station in the Solarium:(

Schooner Bar is a good place to hang out during the day and in the evening. Viking Crown lounge is usually busy later in the evening and there is a great sports bar just forward of the casino. Plenty of places to have a libation, sing along to the piano player, or watch a sporting event, if the theater, casino and the Solarium don't appeal to you. Two billiard tables in the room between the Schooner and the Safari Club are fun to watch when the ship is really rocking and rolling. We love Radiance class ships and don't miss the Royal Promenade or some of the other bells and whistles found on the larger ships.:)

As an avid pool player, what do you think of those? When we do finally book a cruise on a Radiance class it will be largely because of the fans of this class who post here.

The pool tables are definitely different and very tricky if there is a good amount of movement.

I like the Schooner Bar better on the Radiance class than the Voyager class and it is a great place to hang out. I actually prefer the Radiance class overall.

We enjoyed the Schooner Bar in the evening. There was usually a piano player there. We also liked the Centrum Bar. It was a great place for a before dinner drink and for people watching. And, Viking Crown lounge wasn't bad either. During the day it was usually pretty empty but it had great views. You will love the Radiance class. There is not quite as much active places, but the size is great. We also found the Windjammer less crowded than the Voyager class. And a little tip about the Windjammer, there is a spot all the way aft that you can eat out side. We loved it for breakfast and lunch.

Enjoy your cruise.

And don't forget the Champagne Bar! It has amazing views from floor to ceiling windows, so if you're cruising some place scenic (think Inside Passage), it's a terrific place to have a good drink and watch the world go by.

Also, there's a bar on Deck 4 in the Centrum (I don't know what they call it these days) where you can have a drink, listen to the live music and watch people dance, or do it yourself.

That is tragic. I'm not sure how to break the news to my wife. :(

I know what you mean, but the good news is that they restored the original name and the original menu to the Seaview Cafe. Just like the open air aft section of the Windjammer, the Seaview Cafe is usually unknown to many guests until well into the cruise. :)

My vote is for the tables that are between the Schooner Bar and the pool tables at the Colony Club. They are part of the Schooner Bar, but you can hear what's going on both in the piano area, and also in the Colony Club, and then gravitate to the most interesting entertainment.

What is going on in the Colony Club? Is it like an English pub?

The only time I have ever been sea sick was while playing pool on Brilliance. Trying to line up a shot while the table was moving was too much for me!

We spend a lot of time at the back of the colony club - it has a complete aft view of the ship and tends to be very relaxing. Seaview is great. Generally on each floor near the elevators, they have a little nook with a couple of chairs - also a very nice quiet place to be and you can generally hear the entertainment from the Centrum bar (at a more tolerable decibal level)
