Possible to stargaze on ships?

Wondering whether it is possible to stargaze on most cruise boats, or whether there are too many lights?

Good question. I'd like to know that too because this time I booked a balcony room. Seems to me that you should be able to see quite a bit from the balcony's.

Yes! You can see a lot more stars, especially on the pool or uppermost deck where there isn't much ambient lighting.

 

We saw an eclipse of the moon two years ago from the aft deck of Celebrity Summit. It was a really special memory.

Tons of stars - we love to just stand at the railing and look up in the sky.

We've always had too much cloud cover to see much...but when you do...OH MY! It's like it used to be 30 years ago, before the lights wiped out the sight of the stars! Magical!

We have fund that we get a great view of the night sky from our balcony, IF our neighbors have their lights off.

On our cruise in the western caribbean last February we had very clear skies. The star gazing was beautiful most evenings. It was lovely to sit out on the balcony with a martini and just enjoy the view.

We also have seen many, many stars on a clear night from our own balcony. Something missed in the city. Enjoy the view

Yes ! Just go on one of the upper decks where there are no lights and enjoy. I do it on every cruise.

If you can get away from the ship's lighting (I think they turn it off late?) then you can see lots of stars from the upper decks - but when we went the ship was going at a pretty good clip and kind of windy, so bring a jacket if it's cool!

we have always been impressed with the number of stars visible while at sea...but maybe we are just easily pleased since we live in a busy area and dont see many stars:D

The best spot we found for stargazing was at the front of the ship on the upper decks. The bridge has little lighting on at night, to make it easier for them to see off into the horizon...so the stars are easily visible from there.

on our last RCCL ship we found our way out to the helicopter pad (allowed) - there are benches out there and had a glorious time watching the stars. Just don't tell anyone so it can be a super - secret getaway with a glass of wine...ahhhhhhh...

That's sort of where I was standing on the trip from Hawaii to Fanning Island (South Pacific). It sure was marvelous.
