OldCodger73 Posted January 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2009 I'm curious, what makes a cruise a "Collector's Voyage"? Are there special amenities, an unusual port or ... ? I'm referring to the Statendam's April Fort Lauderdale to Vancouver Panama Canal transit.
Mary Ellen Posted January 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2009 It is a combination of 2 shorter cruises.
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 10, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2009 And they will give a bit more of a discount when you book those 2 cruises as one.
MightyQuinn Posted January 10, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2009 Collectors Voyages are B2B cruises that HAL combines & markets as a single cruise, the idea being to offer longer, more in-depth itineraries typically with non-repeating ports. In our experience, there’s been a substantial savings in buying Collectors Voyages compared to purchasing separate cruises. There’s also the convenience of having the same stateroom & same dining arrangements for the entire trip. There's usually a cocktail party between the B2B segments as well as a Q&A with staff. On our Collector Voyages (in Europe) we were issued ID cards at the beginning of the cruise that were valid for both B2B segments. This made things very easy on turn-around day. YMMV. On the flip side, menus repeat & some entertainment, particularly cast production shows, are the same. And you get the joy of doubling-up on the lifeboat drill. ;);)

The cruise line collected all my money! ;) It looks like Jim is feeling better after his fall. You must be on the road to recovery if you're back to making your jokes. Although, I'm not too sure that the cruise lines taking all our money is a joke. ;)
