mikey47 Posted January 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Anyone else on this. We are Seabourne virgins and are really looking forward to the experience.
Seabourn-nail Posted January 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2009 Hi Mikey! We (That is 4 of us: My husband René and I and our friends Siem and Betsie, all from Holland) also hope to be on this cruise! René and I have done the itinerary before, but our friends haven't and for some reason (?) they like to cruise with us. So we decided to do this cruise once more. I'm sure you will love it. If you send me your email address, I will send you a referral coupon that will give you on board credit! Just put in below this message. Replace the "@" with "at". mikey47 Posted January 13, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted January 13, 2009 Thank you Marja. We look forward to meeting you all on board. My address is mikerack at blueyonder.co.uk A couple of questions if you don't mind: The itinery shows 2 nights suggested formal attire. Is that pretty well adhered to? I hope so. Also how smart are the other nights usually? What are the temperatures likely to be on the trip? How cold/hot can it be? Mike
Seabourn-nail Posted January 13, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2009 Hi Mike, Yes, formal nights are really formal nights (tuxedos and long dresses and all), but if you don't want to dress like that, which you do, you can always dress elegant casual and go to restaurant "2". Temperatures are very unpredictable as they are in most Northern European countries any time of the year. We just have to be lucky. I will send you an email regarding the referral. mikey47 Posted January 13, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted January 13, 2009 Thanks Marja I'm pleased about the formal nights. They help make a cruise special for us. Are jackets the order of the day for men for the other nights or is it usually just a shirt? Look forward to the email but I guess it's hard to spend money when it's all inclusive;~) Mike
Seabourn-nail Posted January 13, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2009 Most nights a jacket is required, but some nights (casual) a shirt will do, though still a lot of men do wear a jacket. I like to dress up. Though all incl. you still can be tempted to spend quite some money, don't worry! Marja
mikey47 Posted January 15, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted January 15, 2009 Being new to Seabourn is it better to prebook excursions or to leave it until we're on board? Are they usually sold out? I also note that the freebe tour is now missing! Mike
CruisinMatt Posted January 15, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2009 I've done both, pre-booked and booked on board. I have never ran into an issue of tours being "sold out". Sometimes they do get cancelled due to low participation or vendor issues. I'm pretty sure they can put you on a waitlist or provide something alternative. Seabourn's Shore Excursion Specialists are some of the BEST in the industry, in my opinion.

mikey47 Posted March 23, 2009 Author #10 Share Posted March 23, 2009 We've now got the tours brochure and note that the tours are not paid for until the on board account is settled so it may be beneficial to book the best tours now online. Does anyone have recommendations for must do tours on this cruise? I've already booked the Flaam railway and spectacular scenery one.
mikey47 Posted May 3, 2009 Author #11 Share Posted May 3, 2009 Got the tickets this weekend and confirmed $400 OBC as first timers. Only booked 2 tours, will probably do our own thing for the other stops. Not long now;~) Mike
Seabourn-nail Posted May 6, 2009 #12 Share Posted May 6, 2009 Good for you Mike! I have not received our tickets yet, but hopefully soon, together with the OBC! See you there and then! Marja
mikey47 Posted May 7, 2009 Author #13 Share Posted May 7, 2009 Hi Marja! Thanks for the OBC it's going towards a tour. Been wondering about the last day in Copenhagen. Our flight isn't until 17:35 so have a few hours to explore. Will we be able to leave our bags at the ship and go off and do our own thing? Seabourn-nail Posted May 7, 2009 #14 Share Posted May 7, 2009 Hi Mike! I'm quite sure I already answered your question last night, but my post doesn't show, so I'll try again. It is not always possible due to port authorities to leave your bags on the ship, most likely it will not be possible. You can always ask, but there are no guarantees. mikey47 Posted May 29, 2009 Author #15 Share Posted May 29, 2009 Marja. Ooops. So we got bumped from the other post. I think the idea of a party/gettogether in the OW is a great idea. I do owe you for the OBC as well. Is it difficult to arrange on board? Mike
Host Dan Posted May 29, 2009 #16 Share Posted May 29, 2009 Mikey, a little bird told me that you were upgraded to Owners Suite 6! Tell us how that happened! What original category were you upgraded from? You are going to have a fantastic cruise! mikey47 Posted May 30, 2009 Author #18 Share Posted May 30, 2009 We had a B3 suite booked on deck 6. I have been in correspondence with Seabourn about them removing the Exclusively Seabourn excursion from the cruise after we booked without telling us or offering compensation for something that had intrinsic value. Also we have cruised regularly with Princess and P & O. Otherwise no idea why we have been treated so well. There are restricted views from the windows and balcony though. See you at the sailaway Marja. You will recognise us I'm sure. We'll have the grin from ear to ear. OrpingtonT Posted May 30, 2009 #21 Share Posted May 30, 2009 Are you on board as well T? No. I will be on Regent's Seven Seas Voyager on 26 June out of Copenhagen. We get back to Copenhagen on 10 July so I will be at home in Orpington when you luxuriate in your Owners suite! My son and his wife are on Seabourn Pride on 26 July, presumably the day you disembark. Not long now for all of us.
