CAUGHT SMUGGLING ALCOHOL on RCCL????

Recommended Posts

How about complaints from air traffic controllers' kids who want to know how they are supposed to direct planes around the flying watches?!?!?!!?

Since you trained those birds to deliver the watches, maybe you could train them to deliver some alcohol to us on the ship, on their way back. Maybe strap some of them airline sized bottles to their legs.

I quit trying to "sneak" alcohol onboard ever since someone else's bottle broke in their luggage and leaked all into my luggage. I hated when it happened to me and ruined some of my items. I would hate to ruin someone else's things.

Heres a tip I picked up from a Canadian cruising friend: Fill a Heavy duty Sports bottle (like a Nalgene bottle, I happened to have gotten one as a giveaway from HAL)with your favorite booze (I am a vodka person myself). They tend to be pretty sturdy. but fill it ALL THE WAY so no air bubble shows on its side. Then double bag in TWO ZIPLOCK BAGS. This one hasnt failed me yet. Plus it is handy when you are poolside/on the deck for mixing screwdrivers and such w/ juices from the cafe! So have an empty one for the juice!

Ask me about more booze sneaking activities such as sneaking booze into the infield of Churchill Downs on Derby Day, Indy 500 infield, and other fine establishments that "refuse to allow booze" to enter their gates! And remember ladies, ain't nothin a sweet smile, a $10 bill, and a low cut blouse won't get ya! Tee Hee! :D

ALL suitcases were scanned and any with liquor were sent to Deck 1 and owners had to go down, unpack the liquor, hand it in and get a receipt. I believe it was delivered to the owners the night before the cruise ended.

My BIL has smuggled on a couple of bottles of his favorite Scotch (which is not sold on the ship) for several years without getting caught. On our last cruise from Baltimore in March that lucky spell ended! He had a bottle in each of his checked suitcases. Got called to the "Naughty Room" where his luggage was opened and the Scotch was poured out! Each bottle cost him $50!

So if you're gonna try this take cheap liquor!

rumrunners are the way to go.........was on Oasis for Easter Week and we had 3 rum runners in one suitcase and they made it to our room (and before the flaming starts, our barbill was still over $500--so don't think we did it for $$-it was for convenience, we even brough two full flasks back). My DH's uncle packed two bottles in his and he was called to the Naughty Room.

I got caught smuggling in Port Canaveral this past March - and it was my own fault entirely.

I had originally planned to check the bag it was in but we got to the pier a little later than we wanted to so everyone decided to carry their bags on. I knew it was a risk, but I figured "what the heck, lets try anyway".

So as I passed through security, they saw what was in my bag and asked me to come over and open it up for them. The jig was up. The lady was actually pretty nice as she pawed through all my privates and unmentionables and she found my Rum Runner filled with Stoli. BUT SHE MISSED THE OTHER TWO!!

They actually offered to let me go and put the Rum Rummer back in my car in lieu of their confiscating it, but I declined (since I knew I still had the other two!).

Our "Sail Away Cocktails On The Balcony" never tasted as good as they did that day! We chuckled each time we mixed a drink after that. But lesson learned .... always check your bag when you're smuggling ... we were just lucky she stopped looking after she found the first one!

The real question is: Did you see it happen or experience it yourself - and what was the outcome? Did you get away with it? Was it condoned (wink, wink) by cruise staff? Were you scolded? Were you humiliated at the dock? Pilloried at the Meet & Mingle? Crucified by Cruise Critics? Escorted off the ship by AA?

Took bottles of wine on multiple RC/Carnival/Princess cruises, in checked bags, and never had a problem til 2010.

In early 2010 on an RC cruise, got called to the "naughty room" to collect our luggage, minus the wine. Were told we would get it back at the end of the cruise but we did not, despite asking about it several times.

On a subsequent cruise we took a single bottle of fairly cheap wine, just as a test, to see if they were getting stricter overall, or if we just got extremely unlucky on the earlier cruise. The bottle was taken, but returned at the end of the cruise. Haven't tried to take any on since then, except on a Celebrity cruise in Feb of this year, where each passenger is allowed to bring a bottle of wine if they like.

edit: Up until the 2010 cruise when our wine was confiscated, not only were we able to get the wine onboard previously, but most of the time it was condoned by the cruise staff; we usually took it to the dining room for dinner, where occasionally we were charged a corkage but very often we were not.

My father has successfully accomplished:

Allure - Platypus SoftBottle of Vodka, bag of wine, travel mug of the remaining Mikes Hard Lemonade (drinking it walking through security check)

Navigator - Platypus of Vodka, bag of wine

Figure if they're looking for the shapes of RumRunners at least the Platypus is a bit different and cheaper ;)

Mrsfecura, how did it go on RCL in April? I booked our first RCL cruise for December and want to know if there are different rules to the game on that line. TIA!

I would have to guess that mrsfecura is unlikely to reply, as she posted more than a year ago, AND THIS THREAD IS MORE THAN SEVEN YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could not message mrsfecura privately through CC since she and I are not "friends" and, last I checked, CC only allows friends to PM each other. She is still active on CC, at least to the point of posting her April '11 cruise in her signature. There is always the chance that she is still subscribed to this thread or will stumble across it on the bump. In all, I figure there is a chance that she will reply. Further, it appears that other CC members are still interested in this thread, seeing as how they have posted in it before and after you. But if it bothers you (and I omit the all caps in gigantic red lettering on "you"...), I am sorry for your offense.

The last post before yours was 14 months ago. :D

FYI: There is no private messaging on this board. It is disabled. It has nothing to do with the "friends" thing. That's nothing, too. ;)

We always bring liquor on board and have only been caught once.

My sister was in line before me when boarding the ship. The security agent asked her to open her carry on bag and found three bottles of liquor. They took them and she got them back the last night of the trip.

I also had three bottles in my carry on bag and the security agent asked me to open my luggage. When I did, you could clearly see 3 bottles and the security agent said I had to give them to him. I put on my best sad face and aked if he could just take one bottle. He didn't bat an eye and let me go through with the other two.

A cruise would not be the same without fresh pineapple soaked in coconut rum. We love to have this on our balcony.
