Husband says NO to spending another $1000

We have an inside cabin booked and I want to call Carnival and get a cat 12 suite for $1000 more. He says no way, isn't worth it. We booked late, there are no other cabin options.

Carnival's website shows the same suite available for the past week so if they're offering it as an upsell, no one is biting.

So... talk me out of this obsession! I don't care about the cabin size or priority boarding, I just want to sit on that balcony in the middle of the night.

How long is the cruise for?

I have a sure fire way to justify that $1000 then. Just cancel all your tips for the enitre cruise, don't tip any shore tour operators, don't drink any booze one the ship. That is about half right there. Oh Yeah.:):D:p:D

I've stayed in them and they are nice but, for a five day, I just couldn't do it for that much. I would just have to spend a lot of time up on deck. I go up to the Lido and sit on the outside area as I love watching the water at night too.

WoW everyone has different budgets, personally i would take another cruise with the thousand over getting a suite but thats me.

200 bucks a day is step i think.

Speak for your self I typically have been averaging $400-500 a day for my cruises.

I feel your pain. I too am a balcony person. But, I just booked on the Fascination and opted for an ocean view rather than the Suite for just that reason; I couldn't justify $1000 (almost double the ocean view) for 5 days. It is a last minute spring break trip for the family and simply not worth it.

The only other time I have cruised OV was with RCCL and I HATED the room. But I reminded myself that 1) the RCCL room was MUCH smaller and 2) it was OV or nothing. So, as so many people on this board have wisely said, better to cruise with a cheaper room than not cruise at all!:D

That said, I am planning a surprise 10th Anniversary cruise for my hubby in 2010 - assuming we like the Fascination - and then it will just be the 2 of us, and I will do the suite and ENJOY ;) that big balcony!

Your getting taken than!

Depends on the length, category, and number of pax per cabin.

That is only $3500 for a 7 day cruise. For four pax, that would be a fair price to pay ($125 per day per pax)

Edit: Thanks, kevin you blew my point. I retract previous post, lol.

Nope, just go on fancier cruise sometimes and to exotic cruises and I was also including airfair and shore excursions. an tips :D

No one I know includes all that when they say how much they spend per day. I was thinking the same thing, no way were you spending that much per person per day, maybe you meant total per day for two or something. I have a Crystal Cruise planned, now that one is a lot per day per person, but not the others.

Kevin is just a troll folks. Read his posts. They are all about how wealthy he is and how he never tips and takes enjoyment in screwing the wait staff.

I actually feel sorry for him. If my life were so boring i had nothing better to do then post as some alter ego on CC who enjoys screwing people i would go take a nap in the garage with the car running.

I agree with your hubby.

With a thousand dollars you could...

•Have a lot of Drinks of the Day...or make a lot of friends by buying a round.

•Go on a lot of excursions.

•Shop for a lot of souveniers.

•Go wild in the casino.

•Buy a couple extra photos :p.

•Make the crew's day by giving really nice tips.

•Have a nice down payment on the next cruise :D.

Sounds like fun!

We had an OV on Fascination last year and while it was nice, I didn't see a big advantage over an inside. If the window could be opened, that would probably come close enough to a balcony for me.

I just had a Cat 12 Penthouse Suite on the Fantasy (sister ship) and yes, it was nice....but not $1,000 more worth of nice.

The ONLY reason we got it was we were using a 50% discount from hurricane problems in September.

Next month we go back to the Fantasy...and yes, we have an INTERIOR on Empress.

Why not call Canival and tell them how much you would like to have the suite, but it's beyond your budget, then make them a counter-offer. It's worth a try (like maybe $500 tops if your husband would agree to that).

You're all helping! (lol)

I know we could take another for that price difference, but we have to factor in airfare and someone to take care of our kids, as well as time off from work, etc.

let it go. It's not worth it by ANY means...take that $1000 and spend it on something else.
