Garv816 Posted January 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2009 We are celebrating our 10th anniversary on our cruise coming up and......thinking about getting the banner decorations for our room to surprise hubby. It's only $35 and I have a feeling he'll smile and nod (to make me feel good) but would maybe prefer something else. So, I guess my question is-would you men think that was really sweet and appreciate the room full of hearts and whatnot or prefer something else? Thanks guys for helping me out. *I only ask the guys because I know girls (I am one) and we would all agree that it would be sweet...am I right;) September
Martini Mom Posted January 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2009 My hubby always asks for one present, the same present...and it isn't room decorations ;). Unless....maybe you could give him that "present" under the room decorations. I'll bet he would love them then.
Garv816 Posted January 16, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted January 16, 2009 You're right...that's really funny. My daughter is hovering wondering what I'm laughing outloud about-good thing she's 4!
h2owatson Posted January 16, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2009 my hubby could care less about room decorations but he wouldn't say anything because he would think it was something I would enjoy. He definitely would enjoy "that one gift" too under the decorations. I think If I made him not dress in a suit for one of the formal nights it would be a much better anniversary gift. iancal Posted January 16, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Banner decorations would not do anything for me. Could not care less and it would be below the bottom of my list.

BND Posted January 16, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2009 My husband wouldn't care one way or the other, but another "gift" would be appreciated. He thinks a cruise is like a honeymoon (we've been married 27 years).
5waldos Posted January 16, 2009 #9 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Presumably it is your anniversary too so if it would please you, do it for the two of you. At least you will know for sure that one of you will be delighted. He is unlikely to be unhappy about it or you wouldn't even consider it.
sanmarcosman Posted January 16, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Ask your room steward to put your stiletto heels on the feet of your hanging towel monkey. That's all the decorating your cabin will need!

mrsfuzzmo Posted January 16, 2009 #14 Share Posted January 16, 2009 My hubby loves a massage in the spa. They have special men's packages, maybe set something up like that....or a couples massage on a beach. We did that on a cruise and it was awesome. Check with the spa, I'm sure they can guide you into something...romantic yet manly.
babyher Posted January 16, 2009 #15 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Don't let the screen name fool you...i am a guy (wife started coming here this was the name she chose, i started posting under it and just left it) I would appreciate the room decorations because my DW did it for me and would love her for the gesture. but otherwise I could live without them. Women get more into the rose petals and candles thing. I can't talk for all guys , but there is something about motel rooms and cruise ship cabins , that put me in the "honeymoon" mood. All that other stuff is just icing on the cake :)
Curt Jerome Wild Posted January 16, 2009 #16 Share Posted January 16, 2009 So, I guess my question is-would you men think that was really sweet and appreciate the room full of hearts and whatnot or prefer something else? I would think that was really sweet and appreciate the room full of hearts and whatnot... But I would prefer it that my wife took that $35 and spent it on something that was more meaningful to me personally. $35 of beer chilling in the cabin. $35 of cigars for the balcony. $35 of "love coupons" (you know...) Each guy is different, but what is important to a guy - is that you really have made a thought and an effort for him personally. Something that is you as a wife, totally just thinking about him, and only him. Something that he really really enjoys - whatever that means to him. Think on it, and your husband, and I'm sure that you can come up with $35 worth of something better than those cabin decorations.

Hmmm...wondering what that could be?? Funny how the question is asked of the Manly Men...but it is all ladies that are responding...but I think you got it right, I mean - on what it is that we men "really want". But I also know that it wasn't that hard to figure out.:D

letsgocruz1 Posted January 16, 2009 #23 Share Posted January 16, 2009 You know your husband better than us, but for my dh, if I was bound and determined to spend the $$, I would get some new lingerie, something I know he would love, then...well, you know the rest of the story... lol
Garv816 Posted January 16, 2009 Author #24 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Wrap yourself in the Anniversary banner then give him what Martini Mom suggested :D Love it, too funny~I think I'll go with that.!!! I figured the other "gift" was a given and he probably would prefer a massage, casino chips, suspenders(jk), and/or balcaony club better. Watch out or actually don't we're staying on the upper deck:cool: haha I like the towel monkey suggestion too-you guys are great!! Thanks
Smoofdaddy Posted January 16, 2009 #25 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Skip the decorations and just "Shake what the good Lord gave ya!":D and then tell him to "Drive it like he stole it!" ;) Maybe get some beers and or a bottle of champagne, but decorations just dont do it for us.
