loosygoosy Posted January 22, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2009 Can I get a packed or picnic lunch on an RRCL ship (Explorer) and, if so, how do I go about it and from which menu can I choose?
serene56 Posted January 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2009 Nope - the only way to get a lunch in port is to take a excursion that has lunch provided- or head to the nearest eatery. MANY ports that you will arrive to will not allow you to bring food off the ship unless its prepackaged-- cereal, crackers. etc. there will be signs at the door where you are unloading passengers stating the fact. martinchem Posted January 22, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2009 You could sneak a lunch off the ship, but I don't know why you wouldn't want to savour the flavour of the port you are visiting.
kitty9 Posted January 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2009 It's very bad advice to tell someone to sneak food off the ship. If you violate any local laws, and bringing food off a cruise ship can violate local agricultural laws, the person could face arrest or at least a fine. Most foreign countries prohibit the taking of any food off cruise ships with the exception of pre-packaged foods such as boxed cereals or snack packs that don't contain meat, vegetables or fruits. So to be on the safe side, don't take any food off the ship.
paul929207 Posted January 22, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 22, 2009 In most countries, it is illegal to carry food into the country.
Arwenmark Posted January 22, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 22, 2009 Why on earth is it that no matter what the question is there is always someone suggesting you can break the rules, sneak something in etc. Some of these are just poor taste but others are suggesting breaking laws. and the penalties can be stiff for some of these things. Why do people feel the need to give that sort of advice? especially to people who are not asking, how can I break the rules and not get caught but are asking a valid question, for instance I doubt the OP knew that taking food on shore was illegal. Starr Mtn Posted January 22, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 22, 2009 Be careful. I've been in many ports which have food sniffing dogs ! A lady ahead of us was stopped. Turned out she had a sealed bottle of water (which is allowed). But it had been in the cabin refrigerator, next to some type of food. The dogs found it.
