RickEk Posted January 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2009 Thanks for the review. Sorry 'bout your steward. :( The only thing that I would disagree with you is concerning the Internet Cafe. Yes, it is large on the Diamond/Sapphire, but it is nice to have extra room between the workstations for a little privacy. And I did appreciate the large loungers at the end of the room where I could plug in my laptop and enjoy the view out the window. My only complaint would be that the "bar" was never staffed. It'd be nice to get a drink or pastry there...

gertz Posted January 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2009 Liked your review. We were on the Diamond 2 maybe 2 1/2 years ago. Didn't do a review but if I had it probably would have mirrored yours. We were just up the hall (passageway) from you on ours. Sorry about the Cabin attendant. You know those guys (girls) have a supervisor for each station. Generally a word to the supervisor will get things handled fairly fast. Thanks for the review. rugbypopsie Posted January 22, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 22, 2009 Thanks for writing...I was on the cruise before you and my impressions were similiar. Although I had anytime dining which worked well, I booked late and usually have traditional which I prefer. Funny you should mention the steward, mine was OK but nothing like the friendly service I had on previous Princess cruises from the cabin attendant. You were lucky with the Auckland hotel...we were at the Stamford Plaza which was not good at all.
wizard-of-roz Posted January 22, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 22, 2009 Bob, thank you for sharing your review of the Diamond. She's one of our favorite ships. Your Steward was not very smart! I hope you informed his supervisor of his lack of interest in taking care of you. They can make a huge difference in how our cruise goes. (At least for us!) It sounds like the rest of your cruise was a good one. That's great!

margord Posted January 25, 2009 #13 Share Posted January 25, 2009 Marilee; What would you like to know? Bob I guess I am just thirsty for information on NZ and Australia. We leave for our cruise this Saturday. Did you do any tours? If so, were they ship tours or on your own. Any details on what you did or what you saw? I guess anything you feel like sharing. Marilee We did private tours or one's we arranged via the net. In Melbourne we toured the city and went to a winery in the Yarra valley. In Hobart we visited a rain forest and tiured a wildlife sanctuary. In Dunedin, we did a wildlife excursion that took us to the beach. We saw tons of seals and a few penguins. We skipped Chtistchurch because the DW wasn't feeling good. In Tarangua we just walked around.
