Owners Suite worth it?

Recommended Posts

I guess it depends on your priorities! For me, lots of cabin space is important, as is a balcony. A JS suits me just fine. (of course, if I were GIVEN a larger suite, I wouldn't turn it down, but I wouldn't pay for it!)

For some, the room is simply a place to sleep, and the small, inside rooms suit them fine.

You won't spend as much time in your cabin as you might think...there's just too much other stuff to do, and it's more interesting out and about where you can "people-watch"!

If you want the space and money's no object, go for it!

As others have said, this all depends on your personal tastes and requirements but . . .

We had the chance to sail in an OS on Navigator (one of those last minute price drops) and after much deliberation we took it, knowing it would be a once-in-a-lifetime thing. I'm so glad we did. I doubt we'll get the chance again--we prefer to put our money into 2-3 cruises a year--but now we no longer wonder what we are missing.

Loved the whirlpool tub and huge bathroom. The extra space was amazing, as was the TV and sound system. I caught some nasty flu at the tail end of the cruise and almost didn't even mind being "confined to quarters" the last day.

Whether something is "worth it" is in the eye (and the pocketbook) of the beholder.

We have been on two cruises, both in an OS (on the Mariner) and LOVED it. For us it was worth it, but we spend quite a bit of time in our cabin, just relaxing and staring out to sea (and we seem to get lazier on each cruise :p). We really enjoy the OS, but are trying a GS next time to save some money.

I would think that if someone is always on the go and only returns to the cabin to sleep, shower and change, than it certainly wouldn't be worth the additional cost.

Whichever you decide, hope you enjoy it!

As others have said, "worth it" is an opinion. We have considered an OS a few times but for us we opted for the GS. As other posters have also mentioned, be careful because the OS on some ships have a smaller balcony than the GS. If balcony is important as it is for us, then opt for the GS and save the money. If you are looking for a bit more elaborate cabin with a small dining table and whirlpool tub in the bathroom then go for the OS. For us the dining table and whirlpool were not very important. We love the GS and also don't complain about the money we save over the GS;). They are both wonderful cabins, you will enjoy either.

For us it is! We have always had a balcony, we are farmers and I don't know that DH or myself could stand not being able to get up and go or look outside.

On our first few cruises we booked a balcony, then a Jr. suite and then OS. We have never stayed in a GS, but I think that would be nice also. It also depends on the length of the cruise. After several cruises we have learned that we can go to the room and rest a little ! We enjoy our room and space.

We have sailed in both OS and GS. The OS was beautiful and very comfortable for a family of four. I loved the jacuzzi bathtub. The GS was just as comfortable and I actually prefer it. The balcony is also bigger. Unless you are getting a great deal on the OS, save your money for the casino!!!:D
