Summit - Mystery Light In Toilet

That glow you are seeing is most likely coming from a ultra violet light. My job is in water treatment, pure water and waste water for a major pharmaceutical co. They have a desalination system on the ship to remove salt from the sea water to use onboard. They also most likely have a RO system (reverse osmosis) to further treat the water, the ultra violet light is part of the system to kill bacteria in the water. As far as the piping on the ship I would assume that all supply water comes from one source and all waste water is a seperate piping system but without seeing the ships drawings I can't be positive

Hey Nightowl, that's Newt in your toilet!

This sort of topic keeps me awake at night. Next person on one of the M-Class ships, please make a point of asking the Captain. I have to know.

Is this light observed on all Celebrity ships or just Summit?

I'm jealous though, we've been on RCL & Carnival & we never had a "nightlight" in our toilet.

We bought a $1 nightlight that is plugged into our surge protector extension cord that we plug into the desk outlet. I have had some painful trip into the bathroom on all the Princess ships going to the bathroom with the step up to get in.

Now Celebrity, treating us famously, supplies a unique nightlight to stop accidents during the nightime run. Unless we will be seen on AFV as someone's funniest video.......

I have never witnessed this strange phenomenom. But it is worth booking a cruise just in the hopes that I can witness the 'toilet light.' It almost sounds as if it is a somewhat miraculous experience. As if you have been chosen, deemed worthy by some unknown power...Mexican%20Wave.gif

I hate to throw a wet blanket on this interesting discussion, but the glow is most likely due to the use of clear plastic piping in the toilet drain. This makes it much easier for the crew to determine the source of clogged piping when passengers put objects they shouldn't down the toilets. And passengers do it every cruise. The source of the light is probably from the piping chaseway.

Looks like we may have a lot of future light hunters. Celebrity should give me a commission for getting people to cruise on "M" class ships so they can "see the light". After you see the light, you will become Keepers of the Light, but don't go to the light. Or else!

Oh, oh. I may have started something else.

Raoul, who is the German Cruise Travel writer, has stated nothing on Galaxy. Just Horizon & Zenith, who I believe are sisters & that makes Galaxy the black sheep of the family ;-)

10_12_6.gif.............I am so very sorry I did not see the light on our Mercury cruise, if the ship is south of the equator does the toilet light swirl counter clockwise when flushed?

Loved it. I recall seeing a toilet seat that when the seat lid was raised, LED lights would flash a downward pointing arrow showing where to aim or sit. The seat was very similar to the ones you pictured. Some people have way too much imagination and money.

We were on the Infinity in November and saw the light. We laughed very hard. We have never seen it on another ship thus far. Not sure if I believe any of the answers thus far icon_biggrin.gif
