Rare LHT28 Posted February 9, 2009 #26 Share Posted February 9, 2009 Doesn't Oceania allow you to bring onboard your own bottled water? I know they allow soda, wine, and alcohol, so I just assumed they also allowed water. Jo-Ann No problem we have brought water on at some ports. ship's water is just fine though
piccolo1 Posted February 12, 2009 #27 Share Posted February 12, 2009 My two cents worth.......... -On all 4 Oceania cruises we have been on, a "wine package" has been offered - forget exactly how many bottles are included but it is an option. We decided to just pay as you go as there didn't seem to be a huge benefit to buy the package and you have more choice doing your own thing. Also, there is a 2 for 1 happy hour in Horizons and the bar near the casino every day. We've long thought about Regent and no doubt will try it some time but like others have mentioned,we have been less inclined to sail on Regent since they introduced the all inclusive pricing. We like our wine and the odd cocktail but would rather pay as you go and make our own selections. The only really irksome thing we fine is the 18% gratuity charged to everything including water and alcoholic beverages in addition to the general gratuities, which as has already been pointed out can be adjusted if you want. Having said all that, we love Oceania and especially the crew. Naomi Oceania, Cunard, Windstar, Star Clippers

CateW Posted February 15, 2009 #31 Share Posted February 15, 2009 Raffeer- Sadly I can beat the $170 a day barbill. But even I could not drink my way through water, wine, beer, or whiskey to a point where Oceania is not the better deal. And I feel much more comfortable knowing that I'm shouldering my own indulgences. Champagne for Everyone! Jim, LOL I'm in total agreement here. Some days we can beat the $170 per day bar bill as well but Oceania is still a better deal. We are very much looking forward to our 2nd cruise on "O" next February. I like La Crema Pinot Noir too!! Oceania itself is offering $500 per stateroom shipboard credit on certain cruises, including the one Jerseygirl (and Betsy and I) are taking. They are also offering free gratuities, a $350 value on that cruise. Our TA is adding $450 shipboard credit and a bottle of wine. We are not allowed to mention TA names on the CruiseCritic forum. count florida Posted February 18, 2009 #34 Share Posted February 18, 2009 We thought Oceania was like the old Radisson, but without the 'wine with dinner kicker. Guess not. I don't resent paying for booze, including wine. Although we usually cruise on Regent, we really don't drink enough to warrant the difference in cost, but really do like the ambiance, suites (standard suites on Regent = penthouses on Oceania), and service, although that isn't as good as it was just a few years ago in our opinion. Frankly, we're looking for a new cruise line, and hope Oceania will fill the bill. But the nickle and dimeing on Princess, even when we were in a suite, bothered both of us. I must say the service in the Princess main dining room was excellent, and both the food and service in the Italian specialty resturant was esceptional. But the Princess ships we've been on are too big, just too big. They have smaller ships; maybe we'll try one of them after (or instead of) Oceania. More discussion with she who decides required.
