BigTee2000 Posted April 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2004 I am getting ready to go to the eastern Car. I have seen you can get good prices on Dom but what about Crystal? Has anyone seen this there? Thanks Talmadge
Rare Hlitner Posted April 26, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2004 I do not recall seeing Crystal in several wine shops, but I am sure that somebody would carry it in places like St Maarten and St Thomas. The big question is whether you will save much money, and that depends a lot on where you live. We have also noticed that in St Thomas the inventory can really vary depending on pure luck. We once spoke to the manager of a well known St Thomas liquor store and he explained that sometimes shipments will lag and cause the entire island to run out of certain items. Generally when one store has something, you can also find it at their competitors. Hank
ducklite Posted April 26, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2004 We found Dom on the Dutch side of St. Marten for $60 for the bottle. It was a shop on New Street as your almost to the very end away from the end by the casino. It was on the left side, near a shop advertising "Disney Babies". They only take cash! If I recall it was a half basement store, if that makes any sense at all. Anne

Cruising Fool Posted April 27, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2004 We found Cristal on the Dutch side in St. Maarten. I think it was Ray's Jewelry, 123 Front St. They have an email: rays@megatropic.com and a website: www.raysjewelry.com (I found the receipt for the jewelry I bought - but not for the Cristal.) It was about $100/bottle - but don't quote me. Good luck - and enjoy the best champagne there is!!! cruiserforlife Posted April 27, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2004 BigTee2000, I'm loving this thread! I'm glad to see people out there who appreciate the finer things in life and Crystal champagne is certainly one of the best. Not to be confused with the plonk they call Dom Perignon. Good luck in finding this nectar of the gods. Now if you can find any Crystal Rose magnums, then you'll really be doing good! BigTee2000 Posted April 29, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted April 29, 2004 I agree cruiserforlife. To many people settle instead of looking for the nicer things in life. I am hoping that a few people let me know where to find Crystal. Talmadge
realtor1 Posted April 29, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 29, 2004 Hey, I'm not P-diddy, but I would love to hook up with a bottle of Crys for my cruise on May 1st!! If I could find $100 bottles, I'd be in heaven. Jamaica is out (obviously for those of us that have been there), but what about Grand Cayman? Point me in the right direction and look out. Thanks. ducklite Posted April 29, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 29, 2004 Well, excuse me! Crystal is a fine champagne, but I actually prefer Dom, and certainly don't think of it as plonk. I was trying to be helpful with the suggestion of Dom if you were unable to locate Crystal at a good price. And btw--I have many of the finer things in life...I own two homes, my primary residence in NJ just north of Princeton, and a second home in a gated golf and country club community in Florida (no it's not a time share, and no I don't rent it out when I'm not using it.) I also own points in the the Disney Vacation Club which are worth two peak weeks in a top rated II resort. When I travel to other places, it's first class. (Fairmont, Four Seasons, etc.) On RCCL I have two cruises booked in the next 18 months, one in a GS (Sovereign) the other in the RS (Mariner). How about you? awatt Posted April 29, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 29, 2004 This thread is funny, thanks for the chuckle. I don't understand how a champagne question turns into a thread about personal wealth. There's no correlation between wealth and good taste. I am a living testament to that! LOL. By the way ducklite, its tacky to talk about your possessions in tha above manner. There are many on these boards who are wealthier, and we don't talk about it.
realtor1 Posted April 29, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 29, 2004 Hey ducklite, need a good Realtor in Florida? You know us Realtors, we rank just in front of attorneys. We have no shame and would even work for somebody such as yourself (absolutely no class). Let me know. awatt Posted April 29, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 29, 2004 True, true, and unrelated. The number of possessions you own has nothing to do with good taste. Its still tasteless to talk about one's personal wealth.

awatt Posted April 29, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 29, 2004 While Mr Trymp has lots of money,I would not consider him a pinnacle of class. That's exactly my point. Unquestionably successful, yes. Classy,no. Whether its him or you,its tacky.
LJR213 Posted April 29, 2004 #17 Share Posted April 29, 2004 Do the ships carry Dom or Crystal? If they do does anyone know what the prices are? ducklite Posted April 30, 2004 #25 Share Posted April 30, 2004 ACKtung- Very nice indeed! I've had the pleasure of trying several vintages of this fine champagne, as well as the cuvee, which although good, I wouldn't have chosen on my own. The floral bottles are lovely as well Anne
