Atlantis, Nassau

We will be stopping in Nassau - just wondering if you can go over to the Atlantis and swim - or do they maybe have a fee to do that?

Any other cool things at Atlantis?

Can you walk from the ship to the Atlantis or do you need to take a cab?

thanks

Need to take a cab $6 I think or the water taxi. Did it once, never again.

You can go to the Dig at Atlantis which is their aquarium which is about $29pp.

You can only swim at Atlantis if you are a guest. Some mpeople get a room for the day at Atlantis or the Comfort Suites which gets you wrist bands for 4 people. The rooms are usually $200 and up.

You can sometimes get a day pass for about $80-$90 pp.

Some cruiselines also have excursions but again they aren't cheap.

I prefer to go to the Wyndham at Cable Beach. $40pp for the rights to use their facilities for the day plus a buffet lunch.

You also have access to the Sheraton next door and both beaches.

Takes about 15 minutes to get there via the #10 jitney for $1.25pp.

My daughter and I were just there last month. The taxi ride was $4 dollars a person. The water taxi is a little more. If you choose to do the water taxi, there is an EXTREMELY long walk to the Atlantis once you get off. The taxis drop you off right at the front door. The underground aquarium, which costs $31 for adults and I believe $25 for kids, is really AWESOME! The whole place is just unbelievable. BUT don't go there hungry, food is very costly - bacon cheese burger (no fries/drink) was $20! Sodas $4.50 and fries $5.00! No, you can not swim for free right there, but the public beach is within walking distance from there. We both really enjoyed our trip there!

I would guess that about 90% of the threads on the Bahamas board (find it under Ports of Call) are about Atlantis.

Every possible means of getting there, every possible idea about how to save money, every possible idea about what to do - it's all there.

Me, I'm not interested so haven't done it myself. Maybe after another 6 or 7 visits to Nassau, I'll hop on the water taxi and go have a look at the aquarium, but there's no way I'm spending a ton of money to go to their beach or water park.

But that's just me. You can do whatever you want! :D

We wanted to take a tour of the island and go over to see Atlantis, didn't really care about swimming there. We paid about $20 for a tour which got us in to Atlantis, we saw the grounds, pool, casino, and part of the aquarium for this price. We just found a driver when we got off the ship.

I didn't think the walk was that bad and I hate walking! :) From my recollection, it was only about 2 blocks, unless the water taxi has a different drop off point now.

I'm reserved for a day pass, $50 all inclusive

How did you find that offer? When you say "all inclusive" are you referring to water slides, the Digs, etc....basically same things as Atlantis guests have use of? That's a great deal if that is the case!!!

I've been to Atlantis twice - the first was for the Dig and to just explore, which was fun. In September, we did the water park - I thought it was well worth it. We did the Comfort Suites, which split amongst four people in September, came to about $60 each.

As was previously stated - do NOT go hungry! Either pack a few snacks and leave them in your locker with everything, or just eat a big breakfast and snack when you leave.

Check out the Port of Call section for Bahamas. Scubagirrl who is the resident authority on the Bahamas says this place is an absolute dump and definitely NOT somewhere anyone should waste their money on.

Not meant to be mean but just a heads up!

This is NOT Atlantis. Paradise Island yes, but not the same hotel.

We booked the Comfort Suites, it was well worth it and would do it again, total cost for the 4 of us approx $265, they add resort fees on top of room charge. But yes, the food is pricey, but not unlike what you find at any amusement park like Disney.

We were there 3 years ago. When we took the taxi to Atlantis, early that morning, the cab driver told us that if we wanted to see The Dig (the aquarium), we should just go there first, before it opened, and walk through it for FREE. We followed his suggestion and he was right. There weren't any doors or ropes that we snuck around, it was just wide open. Several groups were walking through it, no problem. Remember though, that was 3 years ago. Who knows how things have changed.

That said, I personally would not pay the admission to see it (now that I know what it is). I live very close to San Diego and the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Both are far better than the dig (in my opinion) and it's an all day event in those places. But, if you live in an area without these types of places, the Dig would be good.

The price I paid for the room allowed us access to the entire grounds, waterpark, pools and beach, not only the digs. I would never pay that much for the digs, dont think I would spend even $30 bucks a head for the digs alone.

thats great, but $50? I thought it was more like $100, at least.

My GF and I are paying $150 a peice on the Glory this March for day passes to the Aquaventure park (this also includes admission to the Digs, as well as transportation and a meal). This is what the trip is going for on Carnival's site right now. It translates to about $25 per hour in the park.

I almost told her it wasn't worth it, but you only live once right?? :D

You can buy day passes at the Atlantis Hotel itself for about $100 a day per person. Trick is, they are limited in supply and are sold on a first come first serve basis that day. No advance orders. I had to e-mail Atlantis directly to find that info out. If anyone is interested I will post the e-mail I got from them on the topic of day passes.

We just did the Atlantis Aquaventure while on the Glory last week with my 9 year old and 2 1/2 year old. Pricey, but we had such an awesome time. The waterslides are amazing - check them out on youtube! My little one had special slides and play areas also. My only gripe was the short amount of time we were there. All 4 of us agreed this was the best excursion of our 4 ports and we will probably visit again for a land vacation.

We were there in December and a day pass that included the waterslides etc was $129/pp. If available you can get them in the casino or they have an area outside you can get them at.
