kms118 Posted February 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2009 I keep thinking about the things I will need to bring on shore (2 beach towels, water, change of clothes, etc). Where on earth can I find a nice bag that will fit all of that stuff? I bought an expandable tote from bagallini (sp?), but it still seems small. I want it to be easy enough to carry around. Anything sand-friendly is a big plus. Suggestions???
melika091900 Posted February 21, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2009 i usually take those big plastic like bags that you can get like at walmart or kmart, they are in the purse section, they work well, and are easy to rinse out in case you get sand in them, and now target has them in great colors,
TheVegasMan Posted February 21, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2009 LLBean, Great style and Shopzilla have good selections. I'd make sure you get one with a zippered top so that is can be used as your carry on as well.
navybaby1113 Posted February 21, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 21, 2009 In addition to the links above, also try ebags.com. They normally have cute bags at good prices.
vjmatty Posted February 21, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 21, 2009 We usually bring a large mesh backpack so it's easy to shake out the sand and it can air out any wet items. If it is a non-beach port day I will pack a large Del Sol or Cunard tote bag.
BroncosFan2010 Posted February 22, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2009 DH and I each carry a bakcpack onshore. We NEVER put any valuables (jewelry, cash, credit cards) in them because they are easy to cut off of your back, and we would not want to loose these important things. However, we have never had any problems. They are easy to carry a change of clothes, towel, water bottle, and any extras we may need. They resist sand and water pretty well. We are very happy with the cheap Timberland brand.
cb at sea Posted February 22, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 22, 2009 Why do you need a change of clothes? Wear your bathing suit under shorts or a sundress---let yourself dry, and put the clothes on over top! Sure saves space!

kms118 Posted February 22, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted February 22, 2009 This one looks pretty good... http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=1&langId=-1&catalogId=1&categoryId=49542&parentCategory=505025&cat4=505024&productId=849175&display_id=47193&feat=505024-sub2&catalog_id=TA&from=&rtnComp=&np=Y Finding a bag to fit 2 beach towels alone is a lot to ask for (I guess). ohitssunshine Posted February 22, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 22, 2009 Right now Victorias Secret is giving away a nice big beach bag when you buy a bathing suit online! Also, I like to get nice large bags from Bath and Body- they usually have some special on decent sized ones.
kms118 Posted February 22, 2009 Author #11 Share Posted February 22, 2009 an Ikea Blue bag is just perfect... Now that's smart! I would have never thought of that. I really would like one that zips, but thanks for the suggestion! I guess we could each carry a backpack. That would work. At least it wouldn't slip off my shoulder. I will carry money and camera etc. in an aquapac separately. I love my little aquapac. I can carry everything important into the water with me : ) My career is one where I am on-call and I have to keep my phone with me at all times. I have been using it for the past two years when I go to a creek or the pool. I used it in Hawaii 2 years ago and it was great! Just thought I would throw that in there for those of you wondering about those types of waterproof cases. Thanks for the ideas guys : )
amandaepperson21 Posted February 23, 2009 #12 Share Posted February 23, 2009 DH and I both carry a full size backpack (the kind with two large sections and a smaller pocket on the front). This doesn't occur to a lot of people, but considering he still uses a backpack for college it was the first thing that popped into our head. Get one with good cushioned shoulder straps if you'll be carrying it for long or if you think it'll be heavy. I spent about $30 on my Jansport and it's awesome. Grayce Posted February 23, 2009 #13 Share Posted February 23, 2009 I use a big canvas tote.
Roadtripster Posted February 24, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 24, 2009 A backpack is my choice. I like the zippers and the ease of carrying it. Plus, I don't need a tropical print bag to carry around and I know my husband will not carry a print bag. Reminds him of a diaper bag. LOL
chasetf Posted February 24, 2009 #15 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Backpack is our choice. Easy to carry, everything stays inside, lots of room.....
