Av8tor Posted March 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2009 Does anyone know who will be on the Sapphire as the Captain, CD, Maitre d' and traditional dining room head waiter for the May 8th coastal wine country cruise. How do the Maitre d' and head waiter on Sapphire compare to Generoso and Marino from the Ruby? They were absolutely fantastic on our Ruby cruise back in January! Thanks

Thanks Not sure about may but right know the Captian is Philip Pickford, CD is Joshua Dayboyl, Maitre d is Jacques Ghennai and head waiter in traditional is Pedro. (I had not contact with any but Padro, and he was great. Our table was right next to where he hung out,(but he went all over) and he was wonderful. And he makes one hell of a cherries julibalee. CruisinChris Posted March 1, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2009 there are several head waiters in each dining room - they manage a section of the room...

madjohn Posted March 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2009 there are several head waiters in each dining room - they manage a section of the room... Yes this is true, however, as told to us by Pedro, they changed the system a couple of weeks ago, and while there are several head waiters, one of them is managing the Traditional dinning room. Pedro is that one and he can be found there at breakfast and dinner running the room. So he kind of is the lead head waiter, I guess we could call him. Pedro had told us that in the 90 he worked for several different cruise lines and then left and was managing a restraunt in Barcolona(sp) Spain. Then the Maiter D on the Sapphire (who worked with him in the past) ask him to come back on board (reason not disclosed). So he came back. Ship Dude Posted March 8, 2009 #7 Share Posted March 8, 2009 Seek out the Assistant CD's - Karen from Scotland is great as is Rachel from Canada. We find that the Assistant CD's are easy to approach and want to get to know people. They are the ones doing the day to day activities like Trivia etc... cruiserbryce Posted March 8, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 8, 2009 the staff on Sapphire is amazing. We were on her last month and had a blast. The captain is a nice man and the CD and Staff were great. Unsure where everyone is in their contracts though and if they will be there in May
Pam in CA Posted March 8, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 8, 2009 We have sailed several times with Captain Pickford and CD Josh, great people!! ;)I've sailed a couple of times with Captain Pickford and even had lunch with him a few years ago on the Coral Princess during a "most traveled" lunch. He strikes me as being relatively quiet and unassuming. We had Josh for our 31-day "KOALA" cruise last April/May and definitely made an impression on him with regards to Cruise Critic. :) We had 187 on our roll call, almost all of whom were very active. recyclelady Posted March 9, 2009 #10 Share Posted March 9, 2009 Assistant CD Karen often runs the trivia contests. Look up a few Scotland facts before you board....she always includes one Scottish question among the 20!!!
