Kid Clubs on Island - Questions

Recommended Posts

We are going to Alaska in August with my DS11, DD8 and DNeice9.

What are the kids clubs like?

What are the age breakdowns?

Does Princess give us pagers?

Thanks for your help.

  • 1 month later...

I looked at the Princess site but was looking for more detailed information. We were on another cruise line and the kids didn't want to stay in the club.

Hoping with more information before hand would help.

Thanks,

There won't be pagers for that age group, only for the 3-7 group at best. Not even sure if they still do that or not, but it's only for the youngest of kids. Your kids will all be in the 8-12 group. Princess is rigid about grouping by age... We have two trips booked this summer, one month apart. DD will be in the 3-7 group for one and the 8-12 group for the others, and there's no bending, unfortunately.

The kids clubs are fine, well run, paranoid about safety, security and cleanliness. The counselors are all trained and freindly and there will be plenty to do for the kids. We can't get our DD to want to leave half the time. There will be a lot of kids on board, I would think, for a summer Alaska cruise. Opening hours are 9-12, 2-5 and 7-10, and there is port day supervision as well at no charge.

Princess kids clubs are great!

Anything else you want to know???

You'll get a day-by-day listing of the activities when you first get to your cabin. That first night, the counselors will be on hand to discuss the specifics of the program at a mandatory registeration meeting(there may be a few different times you can choose from). Your kids can meet some of the other kids at that time.

The program begins the next morning. There's at least one kids' dinner, a private party in the Horizon Court, which is the buffet (one side of the HC is closed to other passengers for this dinner).

We took the Island for an Alaskan cruise with our grandchildren last season. The kids were a girl 8 and a boy 11 at the time we cruised. They loved the kids club. They did crafts, played games both video and board, scavenger hunts, dissection, other science activities etc.and had special time with the rangers while we were in Glacier Bay. Also Libby Riddle did a presentation on the Iditarod and answered their questions fully (not part of the kids program). They loved the kids program.
