Bringing Liquor Home to Canada

GrammaZ

Recommended Posts

I know Canadians are allowed to bring back into Canada just over a litre each of hard liquor. Does any one know what duty, taxes etc. is charged when we are over our limit? And is it the same for wine as for hard liquor. Want to know if it is worth the effort. Thanks.

With wine, you can bring back two 750 ml bottles each. Not sure what the duty is if you're over (it's usually about the same as what you paid for the bottle). But I seem to remember reading that if you're over you pay duty on the whole thing including what would have been duty free.
