Long Beach? Close to the Gap?

Yes, there has been significant news coverage here regarding this incident.

In fact, another Ottawa resident spoke to reporters and stated she had been mugged on the same beach, less than a year ago.

Very sad....:(.

We plan to use taxi's in the evening now and stick to our arranged tour.

Stay away from Long Beach, okay?

-even if the jerk has been caught. ;)

Barbados has dozens more beaches, even nicer...and with amenities.

Go to those popular recommended beaches, not Long Beach

Long Beach has no amenities, few houses nearby..

do the right thing...really..

Please listen to Mr. aplmac and steer clear of Long Beach, or any of the deserted beaches, mostly on the SE and E coasts.

Times are tough and just becuse they caught the guy doesn't mean he's the only guy.

Here is a picture so you can see just how isolated Long Beach really is (The red "B" left of Long Bay). No one close that you can yell "HELP" to.

Barbados is really quite safe. Just use your good sense and don't go to isolated beaches by yourself.

Thank you for the good advice and warnings.

I only posted the question to reassure myself that we were not staying close to Long Beach. I wasn't sure of the distance between Long Beach and the Gap. :)

I see you are sailing on the Victory in two weeks. My husband and I will be sailing on her later this month and we're SO excited. This will be our first cruise with a balcony.

Since you are familiar with Barbados, which beach would you suggest we spend our day at; we are thirty-something, no kids, & ideally looking for an all-inclusive so we'd have access to a pool & beach as well as cocktails & food? Any advice would be very welcome.

Thanks so much.

Not entirely sure about this but ..

I don't think you can get an All-Inclusive arrangement day-pass.

Staying at such a hotel for a week is one thing

but popping in for just a day on their beach...another.

Hilton might offer you something close to what you want?

but you need to phone ahead That Day to see if they can take you.

Suggest you hit Accra/Rockley beach...it's a young-at-heart beach

and I'm sure you've seen lotsa threads about it, with pictures.

Boatyard -on sprawling Carlisle Bay Beach- can get lively with a young crowd which

if it gets too hectic for you, you can always go out onto the beach

and away from the beach-house/music to regain sanity... :)
